Whatever Did Villas-Boas Say To Bale?

Good evening.

Was it majestic? Perhaps not entirely, but how many times have the sides that have supposedly kept us in our place nipped of with ‘just the points?’

I was slightly wary watching the game at the time of the celebration by the boss. After the game.

It wasn’t lunatic, rather a ‘measured’ punched fist but he made a point of congratulating the lads and thanking the travelling support with the old ‘shirts into the crowd’ thing. This says to me he’s genuinely appreciative of the support from fans – that ‘AVB’s Blue & White Army’ chant is one I love the most.

The second is that he wants to really emphasise the value of winning to our lot. This guy hasn’t just got off the boat football or otherwise and I think upon reflection it was a very clever call. Villas-Boas is evidently looking to motivate his group and that has to be a good thing.

‘It’s such a good win. We want to be at the top, we want to make the best of fixtures at Southampton and Wigan before we play Man City and Arsenal. If we carry on showing this level of competence we can really push on.

‘I’m extremely happy for Gareth. He’s a massive player for us and when the small opportunities come he makes the difference.’

Funniest one-liner caption type thing wins a fortnight’s supply of helium.

As soon as Thudd goes off, the other team score – coincidence?

erm, not part of the compo that bit

I was thinking the same thing. It happened the week before too. Livermore is just not good enough. I like the lad but even jenas is better

Go give them a taste of Welsh cock.

    (sorry about that)

    Not part of the compo.

What are the chances Battenberg will say he was only repeating what he thought Mikel said to him ?

    • Gary B says:

He’ll just say it was John Terry he heard, shouting from the touchline. I’d believe it.

What is amazing is just how quickly the Respect and the ‘let’s clean up diving’ campaigns go out of the window when the refs give a decision against one of the journos’ favourites.

Gareth, make sure they put in an extra stitch for Daddy.

I am not convinced either way re AVB.

    We are not convincing.

We were all over the place with Redknapp and all over the place so far with AVB

    bright spots:

    Sandro
    Lennon
    Bale
    Vertonghen

I am not against Dempsey either
of Dembele. They will both kick in

    and I like Sigg too

    Weak spots

    The Freidel/Lloris affair

    Livermore

Stability and the randomness of our performances

    Striker!

No big difference so far between Harry and AVB.Not convinced

    • Ronnie Wolman says:

      Harry had no plan,AVB does.

      So?

      Its about seeing quality.

      Its about the same.

I don’t really think this will win either way, but he did say ‘one-liner caption’.

have to agree. i’ve liked what i’ve seen from AVB in terms of vision and attitude towards the media. if he stays in place for a few season he could be a legend. the performances so far however haven’t been great. it’s hard to tell whether AVB’s positive comments on some pretty lacklustre performances are actually his opinion or whether he is just trying to keep morale high.

whilst last season we had moments of amazing football and moments of sh|te football, this season has been consistently average. a few of our results mask some dodgy moments. some of our players have really improved but we’re lacking the creativity we had with modric and vdv. i think we’ll need a little more if we want to secure top 4.
