Andy Carroll 100% Not Signing For Spurs In January

Good morning,

Unless I’ve got this wildly wrong today’s Andy Carroll piece in the Daily Mail is er… made up.

FIFA Regulations for the Status and Transfer of Players, Chapter III: Registration of Players, Article 5.3 stated:

Players may be registered for a maximum of three clubs during the period from 1 July until 30 June of the following year. During this period, the player is only eligible to play in Official Matches for two clubs.

Andy Carroll came on in the 83rd minute for Borini in the Liverpool vs Manchester City game on the 26th of August. So if we did buy him it would be shall we say, an ambitious tactic to put it mildly.

It’s a shame, I was hoping we could have swapped him for Dumpsey and Shitterson.

    • LosLorenzo says:

      Just saw your
“told you a million times not to exaggerate”
post on the previous article. Just when I’d almost given up on reading your posts, you go ahead and make me snigger. You bastard :freu

“I think both booing and abusing people on the internet are both bad, but if I had to choose one or the other I would plumb for booing, which is not personal…”

“cut it out and get behind the team like a real fan (like me), for fucks sake.”

Keep up the good work. You’re clearly very versatile, and adapt your arguments well to any circumstances – given how you can flip positions at the drop of a hat.

Of course, they are quotes. I’ll just add the word you were looking for was plump. :winke:

      • LLL says:

Fantastic effort Mysterious. No, I mean really. :ermm:

Number one was a quote referring to abusing people directly on twitter. Not making mild fun out of them on an internet message board.

Number two was a sarcastic response to someone. You don’t get sarcasm really, do you?

Of course, they are quotes. I’ll just add the word you were looking for was plump.

        :hae:

      • MysteriousStranger says:

Making mild fun? Very good. You made a point of saying previously that you didn’t slag off the players elsewhere – then you proceed to do something you claim not to do.

Of course you were being sarcastic. Of course, facking of course. Most of us have worked out you don’t quite have the neccessary character traits to get behind the team.

Clearly in your world we should have bankrupted the club paying over the odds for Brazilian youngsters.

Though I’ll give you this, you’d know all about scoring points LLL. Your argumentative self must be top of the league at that, I’m sure. ;-) :ermm:

Just changed their names around a bit to put toilet references in there. Glad you liked it.

You made a point of saying previously that you didn’t slag off the players elsewhere

          I did?

Come on man, that’s an OWN GOAL. You can’t start questioning a man’s Spursness, you’ve already lost the argument.

        • `rich g says:

previously , u were one of the biggest bellendS here, now this twat has taken the batton and kept running, black is white, day is night, LLL is always right, nah, hes just a CAD

        • MysteriousStranger says:

First it was sarcasm, now I’m scoring an own goal by agreeing with you? Unless you’re being sarcastic again?

          This is sarcasm:

Your knowledge and support is unbettered by anyone else on here.

          Perhaps you were being ironic?

It seems like your “hate filled miserable dross” does get noticed though, so congrats to you. :-p

        • LLL says:

Nobody likes me but I don’t care. :daumen:

        • LLL says:

          @Rich G
You are by far the biggest, raging purple helmet on here as every single contribution you make is 100% made of personal abuse and nothing else. You are a witless cock.

    • StrappingYoungLad says:

Every post I have seen you make has been hate filled miserable dross.
I don’t think you like football do you?

      • LLL says:

Is that so? Well, miserable dross, I can’t argue with that. Hate-filled I’m taking umbrage at. Who am I hating on? I’m all about the love baby.

And, yes, rumbled again. Can’t stand football. I’ll let you into another secret: I’m not even a ‘real fan’. :shocked2:

  • Its a fact though he cant sign for another prem club this season. He is pure class though honestly. he doesnt score but he is a nightmare to defend against and creates loads for others like Nolan. Class player

  • paul9inch says:

Guess if “registered” also includes a loan period.

If a manager could see some potential for him becoming a more prolific goal scorer He could become a sensation. Massive gamble though as Liverpool would want to recoup a big percentage of their outlay.

(aside: Nicholson saw the potential in Chivers and he became a monster for 2 seasons)

    • cookiebun says:

Yeah, but Nicholson was a successful manager and well trusted when he suggested Chivers. Could you imagine the look on Levy’s face if AVB suggested Carroll. He’s a donkey and even Levy knows that.

      • paul9inch says:

Personally I feel if a good manager got hold of him there could be something there (but at the right price).

But you’ve brought up another point and thats how transfer policy actually works at Spurs. I dont think anybody outside the club truly knows.

        • TMWNN says:

          I know it doesn’t work.

Levy has left VB high and dry.

If the football hasn’t improved by January, will Levy back AVB by signing decent players or will he just go along with what we’ve got as long as we’re not in trouble?

The happy clappers and the booers will continue to go regardless so does he even care?

        • LosLorenzo says:

Levy proabably does first and foremost care about building the wealth of the club. I don’t know if he sees the fans as anything more as a means to this end.

What I do know is that he cares very much about CL money as a means to his ends. And you don’t get that without a quality squad with a good manager.

        • LLL says:

Levy is just the managing director. I’d like to see our bogus sugar daddy / billionaire non-tax paying owner Joe Lewis back Levy with a bit of his own pocket change once in a while.

        • LosLorenzo says:

Yes, it is the god given right of any football team to just receive money from their owners without said owners expecting any return on their money. Any owner not willing to blow loads of money is clearly not rich enough to own a pwoper club.

          I dunno…

I think a lot of people would agree with me if I said that these owners are the root of many of modern football’s problems (‘bankfunned’ clubs, insane player wages, etc.).

Can’t argue that Spurs wouldn’t benefit on the field from being the plaything of some dictator or crime lord or whatever. At least in the short term, until Aleksandr Bin Capone decided he was actually a Formula One, horseracing or powerboat fan and left the club high and dry (case in point: Malaga).

Ideally, though, I don’t want to support a club like that. I’d much rather support a mid-table team doing it “the right way”, that CL contenders on financial EPO.

        • LLL says:

I’m just saying: Joe Lewis is a billionaire. He doesn’t contribute to society. He owns a football club and expects Levy to make it profitable for him. Therein lies part of the problem, no?

        • LosLorenzo says:

I don’t think billionaires or owners with profit motives are a problem, no.

I’m no libertarian or empathy-free capitalist. I believe in reasonable market regulation and a strong welfare state.

I also believe that the possibility of entrepreneurs making vast amounts of money is what drives most innovation. And if you didn’t allow said entrepreneurs to keep their money once they’d made it you would soon debase the motivation to create and innovate, to the detriment of the society our children will live in.

By all means, disagree with the way JL made his fortune. He didn’t break the law, though. So if there’s something wrong with how he gained his riches it is the fault of politicians and the judicial branch, who decide what is and isn’t legal. You can’t blame a man for making money withing the law.

To be honest, I couldn’t care less who owns the shares issued by the club. It is my opinion that, regardless of what happens to be registered with HMRC, the club belongs in spirit to the fans.

And I think that cups or awards won by the club are all the more meaningful if they are built on honest, organic growth.

        • TMWNN says:

No one is talking about throwing money at it City or Chelsea style which could put the club in trouble, but buying one or two major signings that will improve the club, not average players who just pad the squad out and are wage drain.

All this organic bollocks is precisely that. Do you think the club fell out the sky into the hands of ENIC?

  • Ronnie Wolman says:

I dont think Carroll is a donkey. He does a lot.
Didnt fit well at Liverpool but Defoe and Dempsey would get a hatful with him up top.
    Set plays would be unbelievable.
He doesnt have everything, thats true. But he can terrorize. We havent had one of those for a while.
    His quality should be underestimated.

    At Liverpool,Suarez is a f-ing King.There is no way Carroll g

    • Ronnie Wolman says:

could get to the forward position because suarez was there and you have to be able to read Suarez…its impossible for a bloke like Carroll but up top with us.The residue goals are worth it and he has the ability to knock them in.

  • cnut says:

Surely we’ve got our bigman in ade, he can terrorize defences… When he plays.

    • offtheshelf says:

Ade is not aggresive enough, his movement is good and he pulls defences around but he does not win enough 50/50s, having said that he is more skillfull than Carol but not as effective.
