Online petitions then…Eeausch.

The older I get the more hostile I become to things that do not work. It’s like whoever was put in charge of natural selection forgot that there was other stuff out there beyond us animals. So I kindda vowed the only way I’m going within 10 ft of another online petition was if I got paid.

This is worth dragging into the limelight however – and I’m gutted to add, no money changed hands.

There was a time when I let Andy Gray bother me. I remember watching us beat Villa one time and as the third Spurs goal went in, the man who delivers the banal as if it were the word of God nit picked and grizzled at Tottenham short comings and how superior the Villa play was.

But then by being relentlessly exposed to this virus of a man, my immune system kicked in. Suddenly all I could hear was a dull hum of emphatic, exaggerated nothingness. Don’t get me wrong, he still sneaks through now and again. Joe Hart’s penalty save at the weekend was superb. Gray called it as a fluke.

This petition then.

Alan Smith used to niggle just because of his monotonous drone. But his pro Arsenal bias has now reached a point where it needs curbing.

With the score in the recent Cup game at 1-1 he was using phrases like ‘men against boys’ and whilst Jack Whilshire did stand out in the first half, he disappeared in the second. This didn’t deter Smith continuing his pitch though. We got the entire brochure. Each page lovingly hand turned by the devoted fan.

I like passion. I do. I don’t want to listen to a Speak Your Weight Machine. But Smith needs to find some balance. Only a percentage of his audience want to hear him gush about Arsenal. But 100% of his audience pay his wages.

‘I think we are stuck with 451 for now because Bale and Modric and VDV have to start.

So unless you you drop Lennon and play one of the above three out of position on the right they have to play where they do now in the 451.’

This is about the gist of it. Redknapp’s tried dropping Lennon and using VdV with a free role from the right with two up front. It leaves us very light in the middle.

Without one good striker, I think we’re just going to have to stick with 4-5-1 and hope we’re not too far off come January.

Thats it. We have better players in general who happen to be midfielders not strikers. So we’re trying to get our best players on the pitch.

But maybe the team on paper is not the team that can win…

We can play 4-4-2 and have our best players on the pitch. I’m not advocating dropping anyone, just playing a different system. We beat A*se and Chelsea playing this formation. We still have Bale left, Thudd & Modric central, and Lennon right.

The only difference being Van der Vaart plays as a striker higher up the pitch, playing Defoe’s role from last season. We need someone with some pace who can exploit the space behind the oppo’s defence and latch onto any through-balls. VdV can do this until JD is back.

Harry H Christ you should be running the Fa .Sky and the premiership . You could get rid of Grommit Smith Haggis chops Dock Utd 9 Points for paying Shreck more than the Donky with borrowed money from failed banks. And finaly make sure we only play when we are not tired.

In fairness, and as a Spurs fan since 1982, I think that Smith (or Smudger or whatever he is called) is actually very complimentary of Tottenham. I have no problem with him. If he is pro Arsenal it is understandable. I don’t find him as obnoxious as Ian Wright, or Mers.
