Tottingham coach and part time Range Rover driver told Radio Talksport:

“If we want to win the Premier League and compete in the Champions League, we’ve got to go after the best players.

“And if Wayne Rooney became available it would be interesting to see if we could go for him.

“For years Spurs have been known as a selling club but if you look at our squad we’ve arguably got the the best squad in the Premier League.

“Harry wants to add one or two quality players to that and, if he can do that, we’ll have a serious chance of challenging for the Premier League.

“If we want to win the Premier League and compete in the Champions League, we’ve got to go after the best players.”

I just want his pug ugly face off every sports page as soon as possible.

How about Everton indoors than Harry? Dazzle us with some prattle.

I think tomorrow will be a tough game with a leaky defense and a dunbstruck Gomes behind them.

Wondervaart will be our saviour at the other end, but will that be enough?

Sir Alan Sugar says well win 3-1
I wish I could believe him, but I think he should stick to smalz herring and leave football to the experts.

ah the wonders of captain agent for Mr. Rooney, wonder what all those geezers who were threatening to kill him are saying now.

    What a load of shite.

So sorry chaps, missed all of your well thought out piss-takes due to a pressing need to drive to the Snowy Mountains and catch a few trout. I’m back now and have worked solidly through the night considering the gems of wisdom that clearly dented the candle factories’ stocks for the next week or two.

I must firstly point out that I did NOT advocate buying Rooney!

But then the key point which has inspired scaling the peaks of satire and/or sarcasm seems to be about the detail and length of the post, which is a bit more comprehensive than your average blog post or tabloid article, rather than what is actually written. For me sensible discussion is about more than just what is needed for a sound-byte and context has to be included to clarify. However I did smile at some of the comments, but piss-taking aside, the points stand.

Harry R and most on here have agreed we need at least a couple of top signings (that would be top top Trembley) and Rooney has restated the case against club loyalty over a fat fist of cash. So come January or next summer what do we do? Any realistic attempt to actively get another DVD is likely to be out of our price range, any attempt to try to “discover” another Berbatov will also yield more Postigas and Rebrovs…..hell the jury is still out on Pav; if it were not we wouldn’t need to keep looking!

My question is simple do we rely on luck or break the wage structure?

I tend towards HH on this:

“On the money issue, I believe it’s inevitable we’ll break our wage structure. But it has to be broken, like a heart for someone who’s worth it.”

……………but the problem is that often we only know their worth in hindsight. No way out of that one. If we do, how long do we hold out. Levy has rightly said he doesn’t want to do a Leeds, but can he find a way to limit the damage?
