VDV Is ‘Different Gravy’ Say John & Yoko

Pires is a ponce silly boy.

If I was to draw up a list of really stupid things not to do as they may result in my death or permanent injury, somewhere between the top and the bottom would be, ‘have a pop at Joe Jordan, or at very least one of his mates while Joe is standing close by’. Here’s some almost ropey footage of the incident…. HERE

Otherwise it was a nerve jangling affair with Jermain Defoe being entered in the case file of clips that prove referees need video technology to aid them in their task. And the BAFTA for Getting An Arm Around The Ear Then Clutching Your Eyes Whilst Shouting , ‘I Am Blinded, Dec!’ goes to…

Van der Vaart is a blessing. We often talk about attitude and commitment of players. When I mean talk, I mean question of course. Raphael’s apparent devotion to duty is a  joy to behold. His intelligence and talents on the field are just amazing and in a time of badge kissing mercenaries he really is different gravy.

We are a side that spends long periods of time waiting patiently for a Messiah to come along and just occasionally …we seem to get one.

Getting VDV was the equivalent of signing that special player at the next level.
Need to find a forward who fits into the same category.
    Team spirit is brilliant.
    BAE was outstanding last night.
Bale was quiet for most of the game but the pace he and Lennon bring in counter attacke means a goal is always likely, as our second last night showed.
Lets not blow it against the barcodes.
    Could be a tricky fixture.

VDV was linking up quite well with Defoe yesterday, played him in a couple of times before the red card. Shame that partnership has to be put on ice for a few more matches.

Can’t praise VDV enough, he’s got the skills but for me what sets him apart is his fighting spirit. You’d think he’s had at least a year to adapt to English football.

On a side note I thought Enrique and Carroll both played well for Newcastle yesterday. Wouldn’t mind either of them joining us for the right price.

Agree on Carroll and Enrique, they would be very good additions to our squad especially when PSB, O`Hara, Giovanni, Bentley and sadly Krankie move on. Also think Pienaar would be a good addition to the squad, quick, hard working and has a good eye for goal. Also cheap and could cover for Bale and Lenny. He obviously has loads more pace than Bentley and Krankie and is ideal for the way we play. Not sure about all this speculation about Ashley Young. Just where would we play him? I guess he would give Lenny very tough competition for the right wing slot and could cover for Bale. Harry has always liked him and would I am sure improve him but just not sure where he would fit in. Having said that it is all about the squad and having competition for places. I suppose if we are going to be serious challengers for all competitions (and we are going to be) then you can never have too many good players. We shall see . But we still need a top top finisher.

      • SpoletoSpur says:

        Agree on Pienaar.

I think if we signed Young we’d see Bale playing at left back more often and Young in front of him. For how much Young would cost I’m not sure if this would benefit the team enough to warrant his signing.

It will be interesting to see if Harry changes the team much for tomorrow. I think Crouch will start to help negate the threat of Carroll from set-pieces. Palacios has played well in the last couple of matches, but Jenas has been decent this season so it will be a tough call.

Don’t see the point of Young myself. we have plenty of pace and wing play in the side already.

We don’t need more delivery. What we are missing is a striker getting on the end of all the delivery.

If Harry fancies Pienaar or Parker I could live with that as the midfield is a little light without Sarge. Although if Wilson plays the rest of the season like yesterday it is not a top priority.

Carroll would be my ideal signing.

  • aspur says:

Best thing was the spirit of the side.

You could see it in the way we played and the post match celebrations.

    A real team effort.

If we had more teeth up front I think we would be top already because the service from midfield is that good.

    all brilliant!
10 men against 14 and a good goal ruled out also.
especially happy to see palacios play well and VDV making us enjoy the christmas game.

Quality team performance yesterday – more of the same against the barcodes please.

Bit of gossip I’ve heard over Xmas from someone involved with the club who doesn’t talk shite

We are after one striker and one centre half – only requirements being that they’re top class and better than current incumbents. Apparently King & Woodgate are classed by the club as nearly finished due to their injuries :-(

On their way out Keane, Bentley & Jenas. The first two triggered a no shit sherlock response but I thought Jenas had played well enough to deserve a stay of execution.

Stadium – apparently stratford is no longer a back up plan, the club are allegedly having issues getting the financials to tally up @ WHL without putting most of our future player trading funds in the pot.

In a nutshell if we go to straford we’ll be in a position to compete with the top 4 if we don’t we won’t. The difference in the numbers is about 200-300 million for what is regarded an inferior project.
Joe Lewis is also not keen to underwrite the borrowings or stadium costs at WHL and the banks are even less keen/able to lend us the money.

Being a WHL side of the fence man, I was a bit shocked to hear it was regarded as a bit of a done deal. The body deciding the issue appears to not want the porn barons getting a free lunch out of the olympics and newham council.

    • melcyid says:

your making me choke on me mince pies with the stratford stuff.dont want to hear it.but it has a ring of truth to it. joe lewis is a very shrewd cookie.

    • Harry Hotspur says:

Bloody nice of you to share. V. interesting as ever, sir.

      • jfdit says:

sorry to be the bearer of sad news of sorts, when the numbers and logistics were outlined to me in detail, they presented a quite convincing argument (unfortunately). Interesting debate for a boxing day, the girls were thrilled

TFL have thrown a major spanner in the works that we may struggle to overcome @ WHL. The other valid questions thrown at me when I stated my preference to stay in N17 was who is realistically going to want to stay in the hotel & who will want to buy the flats?

On the footie front glad to hear the powers that be can see the two areas we need to improve on the pitch

        • LosLorenzo says:

Somebody is having pork pies. You, your mate or whoever informed him. No way the club are looking for another CB in January. We already have Kaboul, Bassong, Dawson, Khumalo, Gallas (and Caulker, who is apparently mustard, could according to some be recalled in case of dire straights). That is 5 quality CB’s + 1 great prospect who is close to ready for PL, assuming we don’t get even a single game out of King and Woody for the rest of the season. They’re both still under contract and on good money. No way DL is willing to have an eighth CB (9th if you count Caulker) on the wage bill, and lets face it, you couldn’t give Woody or King away at this point. It just doesn’t make any sense. Ok, long term the club will need to replace the sicknotes, but I will ritualistically remove my testes if we buy another CB in January.

The rest of your ITK is just common sense. Emotions aside, unless the WHL redevelopment receives public money (as Emptycrates did), it will simply not be viable as compared to the Olympic stadium. Also, I don’t see how the Olympic legacy people could ever be duped into believing that a soon to be Championship side could make use of a 50-60k seater.

That we need a striker upgrade is obvious only to anybody with greater than squidlike intelligence. It has also been pointed out by everybody with any sort of interest in the club, including the manager.

No offense, but you haven’t actually added any useful information, other than pointing out the blatantly obvious and calling it insight. Oh, and the CB thing is just stupid.
