Crouch Out

Mornin’.

Well it could be worse. you could have woken up to discover you were Roy Hodgson.

Last night’s footy was quite mad across the board. Chelsea lost another wheel last night losing to Wolves. The French found Joe Hart in too finer form in a game that mirrored our own season opening tussle in many respects. The double sending off was spot on, but to be frank I would have shown Song a straight red just for looking like an Ipswich pimp.

Everton just looked more like a team that played football on the floor and it makes me cringe when we hit the ball over Modder’s head and turn possession into a 50/50 ball. Crouch out.

I acknowledge that the knockdown balls to VdV work, but at what ratio? One in 27 resulting in a goal? I don’t like it and I’d like us to stop doing it. It’s quite unseemly all this hoofing and hoping. What is this an open audition for an Old Time Dancing show or one of the world’s most stylish sides trying to play football?

Here’s a clip of a side winning.

Listen Peter Crouch is shite, always has been n always will be so i aint gonna waste time discussing him but to b frank the rest of our so-called strikers hardly strike fear into the opposition, and i include defoe who was struggling for form BEFORE his injury! yes a world class striker is urgently needed as r two reliable full backs as BAE is just too unpredictable n hutton is just useless!

    • I agree he IS absolute shite, its a wonder what the English FA and International squad see in him. What were Liverpool thinking in asking him to play there and Portsmouth too and now Spurs.

Why cant they see what we see, that hes absolute shite! It never ceases to amaze me how deluded other people can be..or is it me?

I don’t blame Crouch. He is what he is. Unfortunately, when on the pitch we play anti-Spurs football, and because he’s not a threat for pace or brilliant passing, teams do not fear us when he’s on. Thus they push forward, pin us back. When in a 4-4-2, teams still have to respect the wingers and Defoe or Pav, which stops them from pushing forward. Even when Pav and Defoe weren’t brilliant against Arsenal and Chelsea last season, they made enough of a nuisance of themselves to discombobulate their attack. We won as a result, since they were not able to pin us back and work on breaking us down. Enter VDV, and we build our offense around him. Modric and VDv get the ball out wide to Lennon or Bale, they run really fast cross for Crouch header towards VDV who fights off the defender and scores. It has worked, to be sure, but it’s defensible and most importantly, because of all the defending we have to do, we concede goals, which means we need to score 2 or 3 to win. But our whole plan is defensible. Last year we tried the same with Defoe. Didn’t work. He has scored 8 PL goals since November 22, 2009 most of which was played with Crouch doing the same thing to little effect. PL teams haven’t sorted VDV yet, but they will. All players, Torres, Rooney, Berbatov etc can be limited. Unless you can keep clean sheets every game, you’re not winning the title and top 4 will be a struggle, despite having a squad that is as good as any in the PL. Shame really and awful football. COYS

You look a bit desperate for readers with this and recent posts.

I know the window is super booooring because Spurs and everyone bar city are not spending. But posts like this reduce any cred the site has.

Anyway the real news is that nobody is spending anything so there is nothing to read on any blogs until deadline day.

And if you really want Crouch out it is simple. Just demand Levy get rid of Redknapp.

      Thanks for the unsolicited advice.

Unfortunately your plan of ‘demanding’ Levy get rid of Redschnapps is brilliantly stupid.

See you on the last day of the window and not before.

I’d like to see us occasionaly play a 4-3-3 , especialy away from home…

When Huddlestone returns , he should be the anchor man in a 3 man midfield flanked by Modric and Wilson, with Lennon , VDV and Bale ahead of them.. Until Hudd returns I would like to see more of Sandro…

    …. …. .. Gomes .. …. …..
    Kaboul.. Dawson.. Bassong .. BAE
    …Modric ..Hudd/Sandro .. Wilson
    Lennon …. VDV …. … Bale

Lennon and Bale should not be restricted out on the wings and the three man midfield will provide them cover ..

More possesion football please, Harry, just like away to Villa after Defoe’s sending off and dispense with this hoof ball mentality as no team wins titles playing that way…
