Autopsy

Good afternoon.

This could easily degenerate into an interminable ramble so to spare you and to spare me I’ve opted for player ratings. No width, no plan, no nuffink. Modders threatened to elevate us but he was outnumbered by people who didn’t share his vision.

Most footballers are thick. If they couldn’t excite people with a football,  most of them would be working in the fast food industry or at best ‘larking about’ to some capacity in a warehouse.

There is a pattern at Tottenham whereby they perform brilliantly and then immediately afterwards they act like hungover chimpanzees that have saucepans stuck on their heads.

I’m sick of it and so are you.

Bitter, refusing to give credit to Blackpool? Look, you watched the same game as me. They looked like Colchester United on a good day. What do they want for that?  A Ballon D’or?

Gomes – 5 Can pick a ball out of his own net like no other.

Gallas – 4 Was more comfortable going forward.

Dawson – 4 Not absolutely invisible. But really quite close.

Bassong – 3 A donkey on roller-skates.

A&E – 4 Some tremendous hoofs to nobody in particular.

Azza – 6.37 Glimpses of guile and gormlessness in equal measure.

Sarge – 5.8 Seemed to be doing a lot. But wasn’t really.

Modders – 7 He’ll like it at Man Utd. They have lobster on Thursdays.

Peanut – 5 Marginally faster than time lapse photography.

Pav – 7 I’m amazed he kept trying. Iwould’ve gone home at half time.

Defoe – 5 Tedious, greedy little man.

Krankie – 6 Introduced too late and achieved zip.

Jenas – 5 Pansy.

Crouch – 4 At this point the gas and air kicked in and I was going under…

All three Pool goals were down to individual errors by defenders and none were Gomes’ fault so not sure why he’s being blamed.

We were great going forward, did everything but put the ball in the net. That said, their keeper was in great form.

Why does Pav score so high when he missed sitter after sitter???

I take your point, the ratings are more a vent than anything. We could have played with 3 goalies last night and still have lost.

    • moosetheyid says:

Pav gets a 7 cos he was the best player on the pitch for us, and at least he was getting in positions, and he scored, his confidence must be in pieces, as I’m sure next game he’ll be dropped again as Harry continues with his favourite Defoe, who IMO is worse than useless at the moment
If Pav had as many games as Defoe gets, believe me he would be scoring

“If Pav had as many games as Defoe gets, believe me he would be scoring”

I’m sorry but you cant make a statement like that with out qualifying it. Pav has never done anything to suggeest he is a decent player, you can count his meaningful contributions on one hand.

        2nd goal ageainst Young Boys
        A brace against Wigan
        Our goal against Chelsea
        I’m struggling to find more…

Does low confidence effect basic ball control? Decision making yes but controlling a ball should be a given, even Defoe can do that atm.

Nah. Confidence effects both physical and mental attributes.

        • moosetheyid says:

I can and I did :shifty: It’s my opinion, bit like you saying “Pav has never done anything to suggeest he is a decent player” that’s your opinion
I think he has, and if you YouTube some of his performances for Russia I think you’ll see some pretty good goal scoring.
I think he has been cast aside by Harry for what ever reason and doesn’t get the same level of belief that JD or 3MP get, and if he had of been given that, we would have a pretty decent striker, scoring regularly

      • shelfyid says:

Fair point but I would look good on You Tube (probably not).

It is easy to watch 90 minutes and make big statements that he should be starting every week, it is what he does in training that will ultimately decide his chances of starting – have you seen him train?

I imagine that Harry doesnt like him, considering he has been in England for two years and barely speaks a word of the language, if he applies the same effort to training it is not hard to see why…

        • moosetheyid says:

Depends what you’re planning on doing on YouTube
Fair point, I’m not saying he should start every game, just be given the same chance as the other 2 strikers. No I haven’t seen him train, and you’re right, if he’s a lazy bastard and can’t be bothered, then fair enough, but I don’t think that is the full story
As for speaking the language, that’s not as true as the press etc like to make out, he speaks pretty decent English, not brilliant but pretty good

      • nick says:

Pav got in the positions of a striker coz thats where he plays. He then missed easy chances. We all want him to be good coz he’s our player but the fact is he’s not good enough at this level and we wasted our money. His first touch is appalling, his chance/goal conversion rate is crap. And he’s lazy!

  • Mark says:

Very harsh player ratings. Blackpool could have easily conceeded 8. It felt like they were destined to win, no matter how many open goals they gifted us. There are 2 reasons we lost:
1/ Corlukas injury – Bassong coming in had disaster written all over it. What a pathetic idiotic inexplicable tackle.
2/Bidding 35m for Rossi 2 hours before teh deadline closes. What did Levy really intend? If he wanted a striker, why didnt he start the process at the start of january? Instead, he made token bids at the last minute. Redknapp is not immune. He was the one who bought back Defoe (3 goals in his 16 games before being sold to pompey, no goals from open play since March 17th, subbed in 13 of the last 14 games last season). At the time, I was disgusted with that decision to resign him. Redknapp seems to have become very hesiant in the transfer market – unsure about Djecko, unsure about Suarez, unsure about Van Bommell. Fucking get sure!

    • nick says:

      here, here!

    • natrug says:

i thought i was the only one who was pissed off when we resigned him. i never known a player so over-rated, natural goal scorer my arse. the problem is that he is one of arrys favored ones so it doesn’t matter if he plays shit he will always get a game

      • Mark says:

I thought I was the only one! Lets meet up!
Seriously though, at the time, I rejoiced when we got rid of him to pompey. Spurs fans never seem to remember Defoe’s misses but never forgot Bent’s misses. I was gutted when we sold Bent. Defoe used to be good, back when he scored that goal against Arsenal when we lost 5-4 at WHL in 2005. It went to his head and he’s been rubbish since. He’s used to always be a big man for small occassions. Now he’s just a small man with a big head.

        • shelfyid says:

That is a bit rich from someone that probably chants ‘super pav’ regardless of how bad he plays but then slags off Robbie Keane and Peter Crouch no matter how well they play.

    • miker says:

agreed. i couldnt see the sense of it, even went so far as to say this on some blogs but was shouted down and then came wigan ! his head’s gone through the roof. keane’s the same. over spurs career 1 goal every three games? that’s not striker rate. greaves had a goal in just under 2 games i believe…we’ve been saved by van dr vart for sure (and bale) lennon seems to be believing his own press too much…i’m projecting mid-table finish (please, above newcastle!)just like old times

  • chris says:

it was the easiest game we have had this season, on another day we could have beaten the record against wigan. harry and levy are to blame though everybody new we needed a striker and all we got was a shit winger.i dont know why we are surprised. plus our defending was shit.

  • seppoyiddo says:

It’s performances like last night’s that make you wonder whether Dermo’s dementia is just a more advanced state of the masochism that we all endure to support this club. We’re all doomed to manic fits of drooling and incoherent raving as a reward for crawling over broken glass to support these sadists. This isn’t a Spurs blog so much as it’s a support group for battered glory seekers.

    I don’t know just where I’m going
But I’m goin’ to try for the kingdom if I can…

How on earth we beat Blackburn and Sunderland away I will never know. Blackpool were shit and we should have buried them. However, we have got to get this blip and put it down to CL hangover. We will be stronger for the Wolves game and the 3 points are outrs. COYS!!
