Modder’s Appendix Out – 6 Others With Gout

Good morning fight fans, Blackburn away it is then.

I’m not a stat man. But I do like the occasional bet and so like to kid myself I have vague grasp of form. I wish I didn’t. Blackburn have won 4 of their last 6  home games and Spurs by contrast have won only 2 of their last 6 away games.

The most obvious problem is that Arry has more men out than Arthur Scargill. There’s a mental rumour doing the rounds that Modder’s has had his appendix out. On top of Awesome Dawson’s ban; Woodgate, King, Kaboul, Bale, Huddlestone and Palacios all victims to seasonal gout disorder.

The team sheet therefore picks itself and it doesn’t make for very pretty reading.

This is a game where those men left standing could distinguish themselves. They absolutely could. But footballers don’t come much more fragile than Tottenham ones trudging up north on a Wednesday night after a drubbing.

Back on again, another nail in the coffin with modders. lets hope that it is only a couple of weeks as suggested. A win will help at Blackburn. if not we will be falling behind the top four.

Confusingly, Levy seemed desperate to satisfy the request for more firepower. ‘He wanted to bring someone in for big money,’ said Redknapp. ‘ If Villarreal would’ve sold Rossi, we would’ve brought him in. I think he offered £35m in the end. Villarreal just didn’t want to sell him

‘He asked me if I wanted Suarez the other week and I felt he was a top player, but he plays as a second striker and I’ve got (Rafael) van der Vaart. We needed a Forlan or a Carroll or a Rossi.
‘Carroll would’ve been a good signing for us. Forlan was a deal we couldn’t do. He was on £140,000 a week – massive money – and they wanted £15m, and he’s 31, nearly 32. There’s only a return if he takes you into the Champions League again.’

Interesting reading. The wages are really an issue and that’s why I think the answer possibly lies in much better scouting than in huge money deals. We maybe need to take a leaf out of Ol’ Whiskey Breath’s book and take a punt on a couple of promising talents from South America or similar BEFORE they’re making headlines at the World Cup.

One things for certain, we’re not going to be able to compete on £30m + deals or £100k pw + wages unless we either have regular CL or capacity to back it. One hangs on the investment of the other but either way is at least 3 or 4 years down the line… So boxing a bit clever with the young upstarts is a punt worth taking in the meantime.

We’ve also got to stop acting like the N.London loan co. and just play the poor buggers rather than sending them half way round Britain looking for a game.
