Real Madrid In The Champions League Draw

Good Greebling,

As the time of writing we are merely a hop, skip and guaranteed beyond tedious address from UEFA away from knowing who we’ll face in the quarter finals of the competition.

For those just visiting this planet – the names in the hat other than us are, Manchester United, Chelsea, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Shakattack Don’tAsk, and FC Shalke 04.

The ties pulled today will be played on 5/6 and 12/13 April. With the semi-finals taking place on 26/27 April and 3/4 May. The 2010/11 UEFA Champions League Final will be held on Saturday 28 May at Wembley Stadium KO 20.45hrs.

Nobody is making up the numbers here. Jose is looking to achieve something extraordinary and win the competition with three different clubs.  Quite simply, ‘wow’ Don’tAsk are a different side to the one we met in what was the UEFA and what I’ve seen of them would really inspire me if I was a supporter.

Inter came back from behind to beat FC Bayern Munich to get here and that to me is them having already played one quarter final. FC Shalke did the same to Valencia and underlined the fact that they have won all of their home games so far in the tourney.

I don’t fancy Real. I think there are better equipped sides in this to dismantle them and it would also require us to wear that dreadful, jinxed, bad news in blue away kit.

Should we exit mid April, it would be duller than house dust if it were at the hands of a Premiership side.

Bring on Barca. The outcome of that tie would genuinely define our Champions League run and whatever the outcome, we’d be spared a Steward’s enquiry. This is all about scalps and positioning ourselves for the next steps onwards. We’re building here. So let’s be bold and in the solemn words of Alan Latchley, ‘Dare to fail’.

Good point Harry – blaze of glory and all that – after the great Robert Daniel B. said that the game’s all about the G word.

Am I first by the way?

      You are indeed, sir.

I think we want to embrace the whole gig and it would be so anti-climatic to go out to another Prem side at any stage, not just this one.

I think this would be best for us. I’d fancy us in a one off against Barca, especially at Wembley in front of about 50,000 Yids, but not over 2 legs.

    Schalke v Spurs
    Shaktar v Barca

We beat the winners from last year so we should fear no one . Our main problem is this we need all our players Huddlestone King Woodgate to be fit plus match fit. The way our season has unfolded so far, we have not had a settled side all year and with no big transfers to boost our squad and Harry loaning players out make this a miner Miracle we are still in the draw and still in touch with the top four. We play better when we have the under dog tag and being favourites to beat Ac Milan proved this the way we played in attackso we should get any top team except Utd not because i don’t think we can win we can beat them they wont have Clattenburgh to help them. No the problem is Fergie will start tapping Bale Modric and Van to unsettle our team with his head games.

How about: “Audere est Facere”! We shouldn’t worry who we’ll get in the quarters. COYS.
