Under The Lights At The Lane

A magical phrase.

Working on the basis that after two pretty iffy league games we are in true Tottingham tradditon a good one, I feel quite positive about tonight. With the obvious exception of the long standing gout sufferers and the likely to be  limited contribution from the Boy Bale, we shape up pretty well.

Once the MO’s list is removed from the equation, my next port of call is Begbie & A&E. I am not a stat man. But I know that I’m running out of stuff to throw at the telly as they both commit stupid foul after stupid foul.

As that charmless nurk Van Persie demonstrated last night, the consequences of daftness are unforgiving. Van Persie claiming he couldn’t hear because of the fans. Yes of course. As anyone who’s been to the Camp Nou will tell you, the thunderous volume is possibly at it’s lowest when the away team are attacking. A few thousand Gooners up in the Gods wouldn’t have drowned out a whistle that every other player heard on every occasion for the duration of the match.

Tottingham need to focus on what we do well and not allow the insanity of an individual error sink us. Sounds obvious, but just because we’re suddenly hitting the high life I’d be sickened to watch us become a posse of hard done by whiners.

On a cheerier note I’m looking forward to Sandro playing again. We are constantly reminded about players needing time to bed in, well this guy appears to mastered that transition and gives me every indication he could be central figure for us.

Predictions. Wow. Now you have me.  3MP Anytime Goalscorer in a 3-2 win is a whopping 40/1. Krankie Anytime Goalscorer in a 2-2 draw is 45/1. I think that they will be goals. Lots of ’em. It’ll be a nail-biter. Because that’s the way we do business.

Oh yes, I have been told I’m on p78 (it’s the new page 3) of this month’s Zoo Magazine. I would imagine it’s a hilarious one liner rather than a full and frank confessional.

All I can say is thank Christ for that the amount of grief I gave the brother and father in law on wed morning when le French went was was nothing short of abuse so to go through last night was legendary let’s hope we get shaktar or schalke in the next round either way hopefully should have everyone fit again fingers crossed it’s just a pity we seem to be lowering our standards for the prem . I hope DL has a back up plan for the summer if Uncle Harry gets banged up our takes over the poison chalice that is the England job!

  • one of the tensest games I have ever watched, but we were amazing. Sandro just added 10 mil to his price, 21 years old – what a player he could be. Tie him up in a long term deal quickly!

Lets hope we save Barca for the final. We could draw Shalke in the next round…and we could beat them. Then we are talking semi finals! Jeez louise!

    COYS!

Sandro was incredible, as indeed was Seedorf for them. To be fair to Meeelan they got everything right tactically. Thought Pato was a constant threat and Prince Boateng looked lively. Gallas and Daws were immense for us, surpassed only by Sandro. Shame that both DVD and Bale are well short of fitness but just hope they can get somewhere near right before we play Wet Spam.

Obviously Schalke and Shakhter do not have the European pedigree that other possible opponents have but should not be taken lightly (especially Shakhter). I think we could beat both over 2 legs if we can get everyone fit. Barca are on another level but them apart I do not think we should have too much to fear about anyone else. Would like to avoid ManUre/Cheatski/Barca but would not mind Bayern Munich/Inter (again) or Real Madrid/Lyon. It is just brilliant to be in the hat!

My wish for the quarter final draw (assuming Cheatski & Manure get through) would be…

    Shaktar vs Barca
    Real Madrid vs Bayern
    Cheatski vs Manure
    Schalke vs Spurs

I hope we get Schalke – My wife is from the town (Gelsenkirchen) and her parents live a few hundred yards from the stadium – I really want us to go there and do them over – then I can really wind up the in-laws who keep mentioning what a big club Schalke are! To annoy them, the only pics of their grandson that I have sent so far are him in a Spurs kit!

sound like good inlaws, you can see schalke play when visiting and they are a big club, higher than us in the rich list last year i think
