There’s a number of issues here. The figure quoted is near close to hysterical as you could possibly make it. This naturally is based upon the fact he’s English and Everton somehow managed to get him to autograph a 5 year extension to his contract at the end of last season.
The likely hood of Everton flogging him off is I would suggest high. What Moyes could achieve with the nigh on £20 million Rodders is more likely to achieve would arguably be more use to him than hanging on to the player himself. Your average Toffee in the street is likely to say that’s not true, but to paraphrase Mandy Rice Davies, they would say that, wouldn’t they?
Rodwell is undoubtedly good stuff and if the impending departure of Sgt Wilson – a man clearly damaged since his personal tragedies – would facilitate the numbers as suggested by the NOTW, then it might be a good idea.
My hesitancy is that I see Wilshire, Wickham, Rodwell and Henderson out there yet can’t help but wonder if we get involved we end up buying the lemon. Oh, I’m a cheery soul.

Rodwell to spurs? You have to be joking don’t you, is it April 1st? I have no doubt rodwell will leave and you’re wrong about the fans view as most Everton fans will gladly sacrifice rodwell if one of our best players us to leave. Unfortunately for spurs it wont be to them because if and when he’s available there’ll be bigger than spurs after him. And for whoever buys him Liverpool have set the prices in Carroll and Henderson for young English ‘potential’ so it will probably be around £25m.

Saying if Rodwell leaves it will be for bigger than us. There are atm at most 5 bigger clubs than us in the league, 2 of which come from some random billionaire’s money. Man Utd and Chelsea wont be interested in him, cause frankly, he isn’t that good. Arsenal have Wilshere and Liverpool just got Henderson (also we offer European football whereas Liverpool do not) I still like Everton, that was mainly tongue in cheek, but to insult Spurs just because a rag has linked your player to us is unfair.
Aaron if you knew anything then you would know that Liverpool is not an option. European football or not. A player would sign for Liverpool over moyes dead body. You also fail to notice that Everton finished a handful of points and 2 places behind yours spurs team that was lauded as having one of it’s greatest ever seasons yet you finished only 5th after millions spent on your squad. Everton in contrast spent £1m on a kid and were at the foot of the table with Liverpool approaching Xmas. So pound for pound spurs is actually a step down for the lad. He’ll end up at city or Manu.
Only by our weird manager was we lauded to have one of our greatest seasons. Plus we recouped alot of the money we spent, Berbatov?, that sorted it pretty much alone. And why have Everton picked up a couple of Spurs kids on loan the last few years if ya think we are a step down?
No substance in this rumour, as he’s under 35, never previously played for Harry before, not a friend of Jamie and Doesn’t think Crouchy is a triffic player.
Note to self, must check Rodwell’s injury history. If he has such a history, I will keep an open mind with regard to the merits of this :-D
I think you’re right regarding his age….anyone notice how many games the Spurs Legends are playing at the moment? I’ve heard that some of them think they may get back in the first team…maybe this is where the Falco and Osvaldo rumours are originating….
Still can’t see what the north west are looking at when Henderson and Rodwell play. Wilshire I understand, but the former look like clones of our own JJ. Hell Steve Dobie of Swansea and N’Zogbia would be bargain buys if the prices B/cat and Toffee are anything to go by.So Charlie Adam it is then….

If we sign a central midfielder it will be back up to Modric, Hudds and Sandro if O’Hara, Palacios and Jenas go. He’s a different type of player to Modric so couldn’t replace him if he left.
It’s been suggested that Rodwell will end up as as a centre half, can’t see us spending £15m on one, let alone £25m. Unless Moyes wants to swap him for Bassong, Hutton, O’Hara, Jenas and Keane.
Thought O’ Huru had already beamed up to Wolves for 5m. Might be wrong.
Never a centre half in a million years. There’s been times when we’ve been short of centre half cover and moyes has preferred tiny Tony hibbert to 6 foot rodwell. Can’t have that much hope for his centre half abilities.
