‘He Won’t Be Sold At Any Price Because He’s Not For Sale’

Come here, there’s more…

Just had an email in from a really decent source who I pass on information from rarely as the bulk of their bits and pieces are fascinating but if run, would be be as good as naming that person.

The word from inside The Lane is that this agent of Modders is about as welcome as the severest bout of gout and may yet even prove himself to be less popular than the odious piece of muck that represented The Baldgarian.

Bids submitted for Modders will be summarily dismissed. There is no intention of the Club at this stage of entering into negotiations with anyone. He won’t be sold at any price because he’s not for sale. The view is that Modders is under a contract, no request has been handed in and that’s that.

Some were after something positive and this is almost that. It won’t stop the interest from other clubs, but that’s show business. This is the real world and as our mothers told us, you can’t have sweeties every day.

My view is that the bid from Cheatski is good news. It lacks ambition. If they had waded in at £40M things would be different, make no mistake.

So does any of the above guarantee he won’t be sold? Of course not. We aren’t children tugging at our mother’s sleeve for sweeties anymore.

We know when we just have to just wait.

Harry, never say never. Stranger things have happened.
Don’tcha love the silly season? It’s barely started (we still have over 3 months until the big day).

tell u wot H am absolutly frightened that levy will cave in to the top clubs demand for our player/s. if levy does cave in then its time for us to get new owners or someone with abit of backbone.if we did sell then dont sell ur best players to your rivals. u dont c manutd mancity chelsea or arsenal do it. we might aswell pack up and go home if spurs do sell.i for one would not set foot back in white hart lane again. i have a dream that one day we will crack the top 4 and win the premiership. long may my dream come true

      Completely agree with you.
Although I would cave in and still go to the Lane.

If anyone can enlighten me as to the occasions when Levy has caved in and buckled to the whim of the big boys I’d appreciate it. To date I can only think of only two high-profile players who have left the club under his stewardship: Berbatov and Carrick. Both expressed a deep desire to leave and both commanded top dollar as a result. One thing Levy will not do is cave in.

some guy on talksport(yes i know)this morning was saying that joe lewis is losing interest in owning spurs, any truth do you think?

I think this does the rounds occasionally. If we had a crazed Bond Villain as a backer then there would probably be less speculation as he’d be in the headlines all the time for other things.

Like living in a volcano. And taking of the world with mad schemes. Things like that Ted.

    • ParkLane67 says:

100% untrue. From what I’ve heard, Joe Lewis’ family are Spurs nuts and he loves owning the club. The very stupid Talksport comments were based on the misinterpretation of Levy’s earlier remarks about trimming the size of the squad.

      • Harry Hotspur says:

He’s certainly been around for a long time for someone with a supposed passing interest.

      • LosLorenzo says:

Yeah. The occasional criticism of Lewis that you hear (admittedly mostly online) is pretty unfair. Sure, he hasn’t lavishly spent the kind of money that Abramocheat of the Arabs have. But by the same token, he hasn’t removed considerable value from the club.

Why is it that, unless they actually lose money by owning the club, owners are criticized by supporters as being only interested in the money? It’s an amazing double standard, because we consider it tantamount to cheating when other clubs’ owners ‘financially dope’ their teams.

Lewis has not said or done anything to indicate that he was going to inject vast amounts of money, so he hasn’t mislead us. There has been no talk of selling the club.

If he does someday sell the club, it will certainly be at a handsome profit. I’m sure that will be used as ammunition against him, though it will be illogical and unfair.
a)You can’t be annoyed just because an owner does not want to own a club FOREVER.
b)The club is worth a lot more than when he took over, much due to the guidance of ENIC. Why shouldn’t he turn a profit? Anything else would be strange.
c)Any profit he makes does not hurt the team. The only “victim” of a high sale price would be the new owner.

Honestly, criticizing possibly the most loyal and reliable owner in the league is just silly, and completely unwarranted.

What, he’s losing interest in looking, for 10 minutes once a year, at the ENIC accounts Levy sends him?
