Web Exclusive – Hands Off Fergie!

Good morning.

Friedel in and word that emerging that Carlo Cudicini has been offered a new contract. Not exactly the a tough case to crack is it? Difficult to defend Gomes. Difficult to stem the tide of fans who have had enough.

Perhaps harder yet to explain to these fans that there isn’t a goalie in the world who flourishes when playing in front of a different back four each week. Perhaps if we looked upon  King as what he is – an occasional treat – and gave up the fantasy that Woodgate was somehow still in the squad we might build and become more stable.

We missed a bazillion chances up front, but it was  goals conceded against rubbish sides that equally cost us that Champions League place last season.

Web exclusive? Fast Buck Inc. feat @theboyhotspur have produced another crackerjack t shirt to capture the mood. Hands Off Fergie! comes in 4 colours and is loving constructed of deluxe 160g deluxe 30’s ring spun 100% pre-shurunk  cotton and at a price you can afford. I think the Friedel deal is a good one. Proven PL keeper that has got better with age. Also has cost nothing meaning we are saving loads of money to lavish on our 3 new world class strikers! :ermm:

Tottenham Hotspur, the club that just likes to keep on giving and giving. If you are down on your luck; if you business goes bust then along will come Spurs, your caring sharing football club to help out. 7 million euros? Our 2 year deal should sort him out ; )

I think its a mistake if we get rid of Gomes.. I know he’s made some absolute howlers, but thats just the curse of being the Spurs goalie.. If you look over the whole of the season, he saved far more shots that no other keeper would’ve got near than he let in shots that the average paraplegic could’ve stopped.. If you look at the keepers who are considered best all over Europe, they hardly have to touch the ball cos they have a brick wall defence lined up in front of them that nobody can break through.. for large periods ours has been made of paper mache.. which is blatantly useless with our weather conditions

Yeah, have to say I’m not convinced that Gomes is spent. When he first arrived he was the same accident prone choke-machine that we saw again in the last 10 games or so this season.

He overcame that slump to become one of our key players in the 2009/2010 4th place season. That season WHL was just about the meanest away-ground in the league. And to strengthen the argument of those who partially blame the defense for Gomes’ gaffes; he had King in front of him for most games that season (and we all know what that does to our back line).

I don’t know if signing Brad means Heurelho is history. We’ll find out by the end of August. I hope he can work out his head once and for all, and that he does so in Lilywhite (figuratively speaking, as he would wear a goalie’s kit). If he had half the poise and confidence of Friedel he would be among the top 2-3 goalies in the world. Maybe that’s what Harry is thinking, too, so he’s brought him in for competition, but also to mentor?

Most of gomes detractors are band wagon jumpers , easy to point out the obvious gaffes and laugh along with everyone. He has also had some bad decision pens against him when all he was doing was going down at the feet of a forward bearing down on goal.He has had some dubious decisions against him.I saw the german goalie given a free kick the other night when he went into to uruguan forword and the goal was disallowed. GOMES would have had a pen given and red carded.Think of some of those saves he made ,we all knew there was no way he should have made some of them unbelieveable.some one needs to you tube his best and worst ,I think you would get a true picture of him then. I also think he is a great character for the club and is a fighter and believes in where we should be going. He also is a player that works on himself and doesnt hide.H please bring on the I LOVE GOMES tees

P.S re the above.I have seen every goalie at the lane since the end of Bill Browns career.Believe me Gomes is up there with the best of them ,I can remember when Jennings was crap,He ended up the best we ever had and sold to the gooners when he was supposedly finished.Big mistake if Gomes is allowed to go.Having said all that I am a band wagon jumper when it comes to *****.

:daumen: Harry Redknapp is an absolute genius….he’ll be trying to talk Scholes and Neville out of retirement next, well they are proven Premier League players….. WHEN HE DOES EVENTUALLY LEAVE US WE WILL BE IN A FAR, FAR WORSE SITUATION THAN WHEN HE JOINED!  :-(

If we have more then “2 points from 8 games” and we are not bottom of the league then I am afraid we won’t be….. :-p :-p

  • Dan says:

Unless Freidel can play up front I don’t see the point of this move. 40 years old, seriously is that the alternative to Gomes? I’d be pissed if I was Carlo.

Next we’ll be linked with Kanu!

Surely the coaching set up needs to be addressed, these are top players to get to this level, I am sure Sherwood and Sir Les don’t inspire that much!!
