There Is A Light

I’m not talking about a faulty fridge here. Or the front of an oncoming train. I was taking my annual shower this morning. The acoustics c/o the Italian marble are tip top by the way. And The Waterboys My Dark Side was channeled. Well I told you it was a year since my last foray.

‘I’ve been hurt, but I’m alright because underneath, there is a light.’

Whatever transpires in the next days or perhaps even hours – if we are lucky to get a quick kill – it’s important to retain a sense of perspective. It hurts like hell when you make an emotional attachment to something and it blows up in your face.  I say you’re a liar if you say otherwise. You’re not impervious to the pain. Nobody is. We’re only ever working on that.

The sense of impending doom looming over this whole Modric business has left me feeling decidedly and understandably disenchanted with all things football shaped. Like Basil Fawlty on his last legs. ‘What is the point, Polly? I mean, what is the point?’

Players come and go. It’s worse now than it ever was. But it’s always been that way.

That said, there is a light. It’s a tad dim right now. But it’s a pilot light that does not go out. It’s a frequently flickering flame but one that you don’t need the freephone number Timothy Spall’s artificially dusky tones emit from every telly and radio. British Gaaaaaaaas.

Here are a couple of videos to help you get your appetite back courtesy of … twistedbutlogical. Take one daily and see how you feel after a day or two.

You know what, f$%k modric, I genuinely miss niko, big time. He’s got thunder in his boots and him and rafa combining o. A weekly basis could be beautiful! As has been said, the guy actually wants to play for us too, welcome back kranky! COYS

And on another note, kranky is much better looking than modders also; it’s win win!

I miss him too, unfortunately he’ll probably play pienaar instead. Or modric will stay, we flog krank miss out on top 4 again then we’re without both with jenus standing there grinning, having waited for his time. How’s that for optimism!?

I see that Modders is going on the SA pre-season tour, with a quote from his agent that “of course he is going, he has a contract with Tottenham”.

I was in Cape Town earlier this year working for an NGO, it is amazing what perspective you have on life once you have witnessed real suffering and hardships.

This message applies to Modric and some of us Spurs fans….there is always someone worse of than yourself.

      Brilliant post.

All the premier league playboys should be made to do a stint with NGO’s, maybe it would help them realise what £120k per week can buy for a whole town, not just one dandy with an over-inflated ego.

I work with an ethical teeshirt company and when I see what one week of Modders wages could do in their hands it makes you want to go and slap the little fekker.

As you say, it also helps you realise that when we draw or lose at home to Wolves, there are worse days you can have… Much, much worse.

      Good work fella.

Very nice indeed.I must give Harry some credit for his little chat to SSN yesterday,he totally took away any pretense that Luca’s move would be for football reasons

When Niko plays he scores. More than Modric.

Interesting in the Sun to see the stats of when we play with and without Modric. We actually have a higher win rate without him.

How great would it be if he went and we finished above chelski!

We actually looked like a half-decent side. Thanks for not putting crouchies own goal on there :shocked2:
