Autopsy – The Our Fans Suck Edition

Afternoon.

The mood in the camp? Oh I think moribund is a good word. Charity begins at home so let us start there. Anyone know why it took four goals before our magnificent home fans begrudgingly gave us a few rounds of ‘When the Spurs go marching in’?

On a positive note, our lot can boo upon demand. Nasri was booed excellently and Modric got a nice dismissive burst of boos when he was subbed. Impressive stuff.

I tell you this, there is a malaise at Spurs and it’s not just in the dressing room, it’s in the home stands. I really can’t recall the last time I went to The Lane and wasn’t irritated by some genuinely thick , deeply unpleasant people. Our away fans are a delight. The contrast is chilling. Had you not been told otherwise and were just listening you’d say the game was at Eastlands.the TV

So well done everyone for yet again filling the TV images with empty seats. You deserted at United and you deserted again today. A balloon if you can identify the fan sneaking out before full time let alone added time at Old Trafford in the photo at the top of the blog.

So to the game. The tactics matched the performances in that they were both bizarre. Crouch, bar one header achieved nothing of note. Azza Blud managed to spoil at least three moves due to his inability to cross a ball. Bale was supposedly wanted by Barcelona and every other top top club in the world last season. So why isn’t he deployed more? Nobody passed to him for the first 30 minutes. Was that a plan? Our back four is riddled with gout yet should Dawson, Kaboul and Charlie be such a fifth rate combo? And what has become of Gomes? He’s burped into being our third choice goalie. And replaced by a guy that lets in 7 in two games. That’s show business, eh? Modric didn’t look happy, Kranjcar didn’t look happy. Huddlestone came on and unbelievably did nothing whatsoever yet again. In short we need to clutch rosary beads and hope that the results of these last two spankings don’t get out. If they did and you were toying with the idea of joining us, would you? Mind you better to quit while you’re ahead, rather than join a gang of quitters followed by quitters, eh?

    It’s actually 8 goals in 2 games..

  • kojac says:

that was painful, seemed like it was never going to end,so we are not going to be battling for top 2 then :finn:

who isn’t to blame but the most disappointing thing for me is handing over our home record without even a fight and starting the season in a mess, doesn’t look like we are a unit or anything and if we don’t score goals we can’t put the pressure on teams

is friedel really any better than gomes though.i don’t get the freezing out of gomes,i can hear alot of the groans and whines, crouch, modric, vdv walking off, dawson, kaboul, modric, thud, redknapp, levy but what i really don’t understand is the keeping of crouch on the pitch :hae:

cue the laurel & hardy music, what a fine mess, just pray big adebayor can hit the onion bag

I was there, were you Harry, you don’t make it clear. If not don’t criticise those who were.

Harry R has had his chance and needs to go, now.

    • Harry Hotspur says:

Who cares where you were?! :freu You telling me my telly’s on the blink?

Come on. City fans in fine form from before kick off – check.

      Some booing – check.

      Empty seats – check.

      • Iain says:

Err that’s not the point. If you can’t be bothered to actually spend cash and go don’t have a go at those that do.

          Iain,

To be fair, there’s a waiting list of numerous people who would like to go. Not just a case of “can’t be bothered”.

well said,,sky = £30 a year, spurs season tickets = £1000. my vote in any capacity lies with Iain, unless this author is being disingenuous and knows that the fans that go are mugs? what is it author ?

      • Yidfield General says:

Agreed! I have mouths to feed and no longer live near enough to the lane for it to be affordable and convenient for me to go to many games. Am I less of a fan? Does it make me blind to what went on?
I love this club and it hurts when we are in disarray just as much when I’m in my living room as when I’m in the stadium!

        • Iain says:

Fair enough, all I’m saying is don’t criticise those that do go, for their singing or leaving early. I reckon no-one watching on tv has that right.

        • cockadoodlydoo says:

watching the match at the lane makes you a supporter (watching football live is nothing like watching football on tv) ….. watching sky makes you a fan of the club……i was at the game today (and singin)and what creates the atmosphere, singing, chanting, mood varies ……the crowd arn’t stupid, on paper we ve got strikers who cant play in a 4-5-1 formation…a turncoat attackin midfielder playing alongside another attack minded midfielder Most of the team went missing for the match ..it reflected on the crowd if the players didnt turn up then why should we…..the team lacked steel today .when livermore came on we got a bit back..
but hes not the answer…..why did arry play modric if he told him before kickoff he didnt want to play .the rest of the players knew it and it showed…there mind set was like they dint want to play either……….

        • SpurredoninDublin says:

          @cockadoodlydoo

The real irony, is that it is the money from TV that has turned the game into what it is today.

i fear we sold our soul to the devil but hopefully the bubble will burst soon…. bloody 80 quid a ticket today we must be stupid….

  • SPURSINCE82 says:

throw in to that little toxic mix a cool ton plus down the drain at a time when paying the milk bill is now noticeable when doing the sums….. what did redknob say today about us winning the league…. i need to drop spurs out for a bit, i can feel a fuink heart attack coming on

  • Yidfield General says:

Get rid of the rat faced Croat ASAP! He isn’t even the best player at Spurs! I’m not normally one for being overly negative but Lennon has failed to shine too many times in recent months and could well be one fir the ‘for sale’ column. Ship crouch out sharpish!!! Kaboom should not be allowed to play central defence ever again!!! He is a more than able replacement for crouch and given enough game time as a forward would probably double 3mP’s yearly return with ease!!! Against the big boys Krankie’s out of his depth! Van Der Vart is trying way too hard to compensate fir the non starters! If caulker can’t walk into that defence he must be shit or our management must me on the special neurophen!!!
Positive note is Defoe, Benny and Bale looked sharp!
