Oh Do Shut Yer Cakehole…

Good morning?

Arry Redschnapps is a good football manager. Say what you want, make all the wobbly chops gags you like, his record speaks for itself. The 2 points from 8 games quote t-shirt is still available from the HH Schmutter Dept at a price you can afford, global delivery available.

However, whilst he’s a talented manager I’d argue his instincts for self preservation are superior to anything he’s demonstrated on a football pitch. I won’t bore you with a blow by blow account of his entire career, but old Aitch has crawled out of more exploding, flaming, twisted debris than Bruce Willis did in the entire Die Hard franchise.

The point when I really grasped what was going on was when Arry did that interview out of his car window, saying that the Chairman was keen to spend, probably keener than he was to bring in new players.

It was then I believe, that it dawned on our Arry he had inadvertently put himself well and truly on offer if things went mammary glands up. From that moment on we’ve been nurtured on a diet of ‘I dunno’s’ and ‘I wish I could tell yous.’

The reality of course that there is money to spend but much of it is tied up in deadbeats that aren’t good enough to get selected for the first team squad in a friendly. And here’s a revelation, Arry can buy – but he appears incapable of selling. No wonder he got stroppy over being branded a wheeler dealer. He can wheel with the best of ’em, but his dealing leaves much to be desired.

There’s a fine line between being a good buyer and simply being a good spender. As anyone with a girlfriend or wife can testify…

And so to these Modric comments. I have to ask, just who’s side are you on Arry? The Chairman of the club has emphatically stated that the player is not for sale. A bid has been refused without consideration. The pitiful, ‘No like chicken badge’ whining of the player has been nothing but a source of amusement.

Yet ‘Ardball Arry the business guru seems to believe it’s good idea to tell the press that the transfer to Chelsea could yet happen. He also believes that the monies generated would be useful in bringing in fresh players to boost the squad.

What a plum. The motivation for this witless revelation isn’t poor ickle Modric’s little boy lost routine in training, it is Arry – as per -thinking of himself.

Sketch 1. Flog Modders – ‘It’s not my fault, what could I do ? It was a lotta lolly, the boy wanted to go’.

Sketch 2. Arry then gets his hands on the transfer fee and I would imagine makes all too predictable megabids for people like Scotty Parker. He spends and takes a punt we can get 4th.

Sketch 3. Then when it all goes down the tube – ‘It’s not my fault, what could I do ? The Chairman says he weren’t for sale, then he sells our best player’.

Redschnapps needs to keep his head down and focus upon the task for which he is employed to do. If he’s feeling chatty, he should start ringing round his galaxy of footy mates and make a concerted effort to offload the deadbeats.

Arry will never shut up cos its a desease to him, I just hope he doesnt do to much damage before he goes. If it wasnt for Levy we would have become Portsmouth Mark 2.0 alredy with his team of experienced old freeebies!

I think Harry wouldn’t say something like this without Levy being in the know. I have a feeling that they have decided to sell Modric if the deal is right. To save face Levy can say it’s what Harry thought was best for the player and club.

    • LLL says:

And you really think that Harry would agree to this kind of deal where he takes all the blame and responsibility for selling Modric? Seeing his track record on accepting any culpability for anything bad, I would say the chances of this are approx zero.

      • Dave Jenkins says:

Any coincidence that Harry is more outspoken since Levy brough in his PR guru’s? Every time he sits in front of SSN cameras youc an be sure he has been well briefed as to what he can and can’s say. Yet to hear of him being fined for any miscounduct based on his interviews.

When SAF and Jose speculate on players going in and out from their respective clubs they are considered masters of “mind games”. If we remain top 4 or perhaps pick up a trophy last year the Harry “hate-in” would barely exist.

Besides, it has been clear from day one Levy handles all of the transfers at the club. Harry just tells the chairman who he does and doesnt want. Hard to see where Harry would be blamed even if he doesnt make the statement …

He is building some nice houses on the Portsmouth sea-front. you know for kids!

    • dannyspur says:

He is building some posh houses for his mates, and paying out £700,000 so that he doesn’t have to build any social housing!

  • forhodssake says:

He’s made himself look a right c*nt in Spurs supporters eyes yet again with the latest comments about how the team would improve if we were to sell Modric and replace him with 4 decent players.

He just cannot shut up and toe the party line.

The only time I have ever heard managers speaking in a way which so obviously contradicts their chairman is shortly before they are sacked.

All will be forgiven (almost) if he gets us fourth place but I have no respect for the Redknapp (not just Harry, we also have to put up with his son too) show.

    • Roasted Peanuts says:

how do you know this isnt the party line?

It was Levy who went out on a limb (not or the first time) and may now be backtracking through Harry to save face. He must speak to him every day and knows way more than the likes of us what the latest position is.

One thing is definite. If we sell Modric it is Levy, not Redknapp who should be slaughtered.

      • Spurfect says:

Redkanpp has done nothing but unsettled Redknapp further. Telling the world that he’s right to want ot go and earn more money and go to Chelsea. Not once has Levy siad its a possibiliy. redknapp has said it SEVERAL times. Imagine what hes actually saying to Luka in private if this is what he’s saying in public.

If Levy sells its because hes FORCED to by the player making it clear he wont play for us. And Redknapp has contributed to this by fueling the fire instead of spending his words wisely and his energy telling Modric that Spurs is stil lthe team he can achieve things with. Not by telling him how greener the grass is over there.

  • Shannon says:

Harry’s right. Let Modric go if the deal is good. 27mil PLUS Benayoun PLUS Kalou (and now) PLUS Drogba. Damned if I wouldn’t bite their hand off!

    • Spurfect says:

Are you a gooner or chelscum or something? £27M plus a two players who are fringe players in their squad (one over the hill) and Drogba who passed his best two seasons ago.

Its like us going to Utd offering a low valuation of 30M for Rooney, then going back and going… ‘ok, ok… how bout if we throw in Jenas, Bentley and Crouch?’ Sure theyd bite our hand off. Ridiculous.

Harrys done great blah blah blah, but people blindly following him just because of what hes done in the PAST doesnt excuse what hes doing now.
