Hello Honky Tonks.

We done ’em. Eventually. Which is possibly harsh, but true.

The first half was pretty mediocre. I only watched from about 20 odd minutes in but it was all a bit pace-less. Picture two Championship at Wembley for the first time, trying to get to grips with the size of the pitch and the occasion.

Eventually, Adebayor kept his head and slotted his debut goal away. Not long after Defoe scored, leaving Wolves looking pretty fangless.

On Wolves, a mention of Jamie O’Hara. Something happened at some stage between him and Bale. Maybe Bale isn’t even aware of this thing whatever it is, but in young Jamie’s mind it certainly exists.

Brad  6 Some naff kicks out. Must do better

A&E 7 Bit of a love, really

Walker 6.43 Generally good. Needs a bigger brain

Kaboul  5.98 Frequently in a china shop

King  5  Sluggish

Krankie  5.9 Modest contributions

Modric 7.73 Some sublime balls (that’s what she said) but several wasted

Parker 7.72 Good stuff, looked like a Pathe News clip when running

Bale 7.61 To be frank, he needs to start raising his game soon…

Adebayor 8 He brought hope

Defoe 7 Great little goal from the midget (occasional) gem

szólj hozzá: Wol 0-2 Tot

A 5 for King?? Don’t agree with that Harold.

Oh, and Parker should have scored slightly higher than Modders as Parker had a great game, broke up their play well, tracked back and burst forward with the ball on numerous occasions.

Or did Parker lose points for having a worst hairdo than Hunt of Wolves!! :)

Still, I’ll take a 2-0 all day long. Great debut from ade also, he’ll be even better when he’s 100% fit.

    • Phil McAvity says:

      *Worse hairdo

    • MysteriousStranger says:

I didn’t agree with the 5 either. 4 perhaps would be closer, but as I said earlier, I missed whatever they did in the first 30 minutes. The miskicks etc. that were prevalent in what I did see don’t merit him getting a high score.

      • UnkleKev says:

I don’t remember Friedel having a save of note to make during the whole game, which means King (and the rest of the defence) must have done at least something right.

        • DAVSPURS says:

One word of warning i have bean blogging after we got beat by High tempo Utd Friedegg stays like Tommo did on his line when crosses come in our area and we have conceded more headers than any team before Saturdays results. We cant afford to play him against Carrol and some other teams like Bolton we have to get Gomes back because when King plays good or bad his influence is immense too our defense.

      • Phil McAvity says:

        4?? Stop smoking crack please!!

      • Essexian76 says:

So his influence, reassuringly presence, reading of the game, nullifying potential threats before a problem arises and captaincy were all equally poor as well?. MS there are aspects of the game that transcend ‘on the ball’ stat’s, and you’ve not accounted for a single one of them. We we away from home, yet controlled the 2nd half comfortably. The real chance Wolves had was a header, that-you’ve guessed it King -sorted out in his usual manner.

        • Phil McAvity says:

          Exactly!! 4 my arse!!

        • MysteriousStranger says:

No, I just watched him perform as the worst defender on our side of the pitch. And we controlled the 2nd half once we had taken the lead, only. For 67 minutes or so it was pretty even.

I like your line about trancending “on the ball” stats though. I guess you must be giving him extra marks for that, cos it wouldn’t be for getting easily turned, and often miskicking the ball whether clearing or passing.

Fortunately for us it was Wolves we were playing, and not a Top 10 team.

        • MysteriousStranger says:

          *transcending

        • Essexian76 says:

So we didn’t keep a clean sheet, looked terrible in defence, missed Dawson and above all were on the rack, besieged even, away from home against an opposition that were unbeaten..Mmmm, nothing like a little positivity is there, still you must have been happy before the game at least!

        • spurious supporter says:

He deserves credit for his first game back after a knee op and the clean sheet. So although his performance was below his usual standard, he was still more composed than the Bull and it was at least a 5+ for me.

Stranger, a huge complaint from the “wrist slitting brotherhood”, was that we failed to beat the lesser teams. We did that and you’re still whining. I guess positivity isn’t part of your vocab.

        • Phil McAvity says:

          *Cough*

          Merchants of doom!

          *Cough*

        • MysteriousStranger says:

          No spurious,

Interestingly there are plenty of people slagging off Gomes (depsite the occasional errors not something I do, I rate him), Dos Santos (apparently he’s a permanent pisshead whilst Ledley’s a legend) etc. Not me, though.

I am grateful for the win. I even complimented Adebayor for his classy goal and Parker for the assist on the in game thread. We did not play very well for the 35 or so minutes prior to the opening goal – and judging by the highlights and other people’s comments not very well for the first 30 mins I missed either.

Yes we won, but Ledley was far below the standards he set himself.

So I post some positives and negatives. You choose to concentrate on the negatives I post and ignore or disagree with my attempts on positivity.

Phil McAvity. See above. And feel free to develop an adult persona soon. ;-) *cough* *splutter*

        • MysteriousStranger says:

          *despite FFS!

        • Phil McAvity says:

MS – I didn’t direct my ‘merchants of doom’ comment directly at you but if the cap fits!!

Develop an adult persona? On this blog, are you mad?!! :-)

        • Essexian76 says:

I can imagine in the not too distant future a scene like that in El Cid. Ledders passed away at the ripe old age of 109 Jamie-Harry Redknapp-Beckam; manager of Stratford- Woolwich Hotpots, realized that even dead, Ledders must lead the line, so they send him to a taxidermist and put little castors on his feet and cunningly trail a rope and a bit of string to raise his arm, the crowd go wild at his appearance and Spots win the game, but the real saviour was the goalie; 111 year old Bread Freidegg, but unknown to the crowd, had died many, many, many years before

  • VancouverSpur says:

Sometimes wonder if you would be happy getting a Hand Job from Claudia Schiffer while watching Spurs beat Barcelona 10-0 in the Champions League final.
We won at a place we slipped up last time round and that is what was needed.

    Cheer up HH.

    • Phil McAvity says:

How about a hand job from Barcelona whilst beating Claudia Schiffer 10-0?

      Even better surely!!

    • notsohotspurs says:

He would moan it wasn’t a bj

      Long live the King

only time we get clean sheets

    • Hartley says:

Sex and Football should be kept apart at all times!!! ^^

    • Harry Hotspur says:

      Vancouver Geeze,

      None of us are fools.
The performance in the first half was worthy of one that would see us getting battered by Utd (who just chip shopped Bolton) and had Adebayor & Parker not been on hand, it would have been grim in the 2nd half too.

I’m glad we won, it’s just I’ve bigger fish to fry.

      • VancouverSpur says:

I hear you. Problem is Arry seems content to fry up a couple of small fish right now rather than anything larger.

So you might have to be happy with sardines on toast for a while rather than Miso Glazed Chilean Sea Bass.

      • devonshirespur says:

        what guff!

Spurs’ confidence will be shakey. Battered home and away this season. Low confidence, injury list as long as my johnson, Modric head turned, new players making their debut against a team on a high and always a tough place to go. Somewhere we usually cough up points..1 last season, 0 the season before…and you still moan.

AND claim we were only saved by 2 of our players scoring and/or creating goals…well duh!

To play shit (I actually think we played ok) and win away from home is something we should be pleased about. Not moan. LFC played well away from home today and lost….get some perspective!

  • TMWNN says:

    3 points are good. Next.

Did anyone read today about how ***** was set to take on the world after his move to Villa?

In typical ***** style his debut was delayed after he injured himself in training – mug.

    • Harry Hotspur says:

Mug is over generous, old girl.

      • david says:

Sorry to ruin your evening but the man with no name will be back at the Lane next season.

        • UnkleKev says:

No he won’t. We might still hold his registration, but if Villa don’t take it up it’ll be handed on to someone who will pretty sharpish.

        • david says:

But who will want to take him ? And for that matter Bentley ?

        • SpurredoninDublin says:

          @UncleKev

Don’t you remember what Lincoln said about fooling the people. Surely there can’t be another manager as stupid as MacLeish.

Message for Levy, when you finally replace HR, MacLeish has already shown his judgememnt is crap.

    • Boy Charioteer says:

Will if actually get more stars one day, than the amount of letters in his name?

    • SPURSINCE82 says:

someone even mentioned what it was that he’d be bringing to the villains. Apparently Penas reckoned that amounted to goals and drive.. pahahaha! When I saw the injury thing I farted out the laughter.. hopefully they take him off our hands, though Christmas isn’t quite what it used to be, let’s be honest !?

      • Heath Spur says:

I’ve heard he is in the last year of contract. If true we’ll probably never see him in a Spurs shirt again unless he’s offered a new contract.

  • eddieken says:

Anyone see Arry on Sky, he referred to the great save by Brad and then the outstanding 9 outfield players. Are we playing with 2 goalkeepers? Or did some one have a stinker?

  • Mr_Spiggott says:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/14773049.stm

Is it me or at 2min 19seconds does Mick McCarthy says that Spurs have got Modric “back on blob” ?!?

That’d explain the hissy fitting and moaning last week then – PMT :freu FAKINEL !

    • Mr_Spiggott says:

Sorry gratuitous self reply to bring attention to this – I’ve listened again and again and I pi55 myself every time.

      :-D  :silly:

    • DAVSPURS says:

Spot on and seconded it we beat a team who chased the ball with Gusto so well done lads . Mad Mick said we lived with them for 67 mins till they scored then we looked a bit silly 2-0will do for me and next Sunday 2-0 will do. Jenes for England
