Player Ratings To The Third Decimal Place

Good afternoon.

“There’s players missing, but that’s not far away from our best team, I’m not saying it’s our best team, but there’s enough good players in there to make it very difficult to dislodge them out of our best team.

We’re very, very strong and I think we’ve got the makings of a really good side.”

That’s what our tight lipped, ashen faced supremo had to say on matters. I’d say this was Wigan, not a Manchester side. As discussed previously, Wigan aren’t very nice at playing football. Heaven only knows what their table manners are like.

Good to get another win under the belt; I listened to Johnny Clarke on the Danny Baker show in the morning, had an enjoyable fritter of literally a couple of  quid in the bookies at lunchtime … there have been worse Saturdays.

So to the ratings..and this week you get words and numbers.

6.832 Another game where he little to do. Gomes must be twisted by the irony that he is more than capable of having to stand up for 90 minutes without falling over and only concede one goal.

7.013 As rough diamonds go this boy’s a pretty polished example. Reminiscent of A&E’s early appearances in that he’s a good going forward and too frequently less good when defending.

7.123 This guy must surely be growing on fans. My feeling is that is Mensa badge is in the post but he has a shot on him like Nelson’s flagship and a willingness and desire that many would do well to imitate.

7.738 Ledders influence off of the pitch I never bought into. I don’t believe in lucky charms. But his effect on the pitch is tangible. Assured and commanding let’s hope he can team up with Gallas for the gooners.

6.879 Not the best shift he’s put in and of course it was the attempted through ball to Bale that was intercepted and led to the goal. That said, he’s no fool and he’ll be kicking himself today

6.992 A very good performance but perhaps by his own standards not quite top draw. Was he out of position? Yes, he should be in the middle.

7.062 PNB subjected to some horrible assaults masqueraded as challenges yet again. Sadly an indication of how very difficult he is to dispossess. He’s an asset. Wish he was 5 years younger, but hey.

7.053 Who done yer hair, mate, the council? Ho ho ho. If that was back from injury then we can only look forward to an increasingly exciting season ahead from the boy. A solid performance.

8.202 Another afternoon in the playground being better than lots of the other boys and consequently getting picked on as they can’t compete. Two reds for now for idiotic challenges and I would expect that figure to rise as the season progresses.

 8. 193 Super goal. I would say that on an average day of Premiership football we see at least half a dozen shots like this ping over the cross bar. The usual negative – he just cannot manage 90 minutes.

7.022 Appeared to be a bit off the pace compared to his last few outings and when he wanted to come off, Arry gave him short shrift. You need to look after thoroughbreds Arry, lobbing them a handful of carrots just won’t it, I’m afraid.

Did anyone else notice Sandro, was wearing a gum shield. A green and white one, must have an Irish grandmother.

Walker worries me for Sunday’s game TBH, I thought he looks great bombing up-field, and does have good powers of recovery, but against the Goon’s I’m not too sure. Interesting how Harry will pair the front two as he’s got a problem between Defoe and Rafa. It’s a nice problem however, which will make for a good bench either way.Long live the King!

This is exactly why I was saying on the last post, I’d love Lennon back in the team, coz no matter what he’s doing going forward, he always tracks back.
I’d prefer that, than dropping Walker for Charlie, safer option, but Walker’s confidence could take a knock.

I remember last season Kaboul played a blinder there against Ar5ena1 & Chavscum, then for some stupid reason harry drops him for the Man.U game I think it was.

If Defoe’s fit, he’s got to come back in instead of VDV, Im not sure VDV has much luck against the top teams, but then again neither does Defoe… yet?
Ade will be bang up for it.

I don’t think JD has to come back against the Goons as it is Defoe who seldom does it against the big teams.

Jermaine is what we in olden times used to call a goal hanger and he scores a reasonable amount but needs rather too many chances compared to the likes of Adebayor and even a workhorse like Kevin Phillips. For me he’s too one dimensional and cannot be compared with VDV who I am pleased to say is in a different class. Raffa not only creates chances for others but is capable of scoring at any time in any game against any opposition.

I’d disagree but only to an extent, as alongside Ade, Defoe looks a different proposition entirely, but I would’nt be adversed to seeing the same pairing again on Sunday, as it’s only been one game and it still looked pretty good for a while. On a side note (it maybe only me), I felt Ade looked happier when playing with Defoe, but it was only my take.

@Essexian76 So we can look forward to great performances from Defoe when Adeboy is playing and when he’s not we can expect the usual Defoe – GREAT.

Perhaps we’ll get Adeboy to wear coat tails and Defoe will then have something to hang on to. 8O

Glad you agree, here’s one I posted earier

It’s a question of balance surely?, Defoe and Ade look like partnership, and a pretty dynamic one at that. Yesterday, proved nothing other than we can cope without Defoe or Rafa, but not Ade. It’s going to be a problem next week for sure, if Defoe is fit, but either way we’ll have a strong attack and a great bench, happy day’s

        • eastanglianspur says:

No, it’s not a question of balance at all. It’s a question of finding another striker equally as good as, if not better than, Adeboy who would not need to rely on another player in order to perform.

PSB and Berbsulk were a good partnership, but once Berbasulk left PSB seemed like a fish out of water. Either that or Jol didn’t know how to re-employ him.

It’s not happy days yet – far from it, and after Saturday’s performance we can easily see the old managerial deficiencies are still there for all to see.

        • Essexian76 says:

          I’ve decided something-you really are a twat!

        • Essexian76 says:

Allow me to elucidate as to why i think you’re a twat. Firstly-Berbatov and Keane left in the same transfer window, Summer 2008, secondly- Jol was fired the season before that in Oct 2007. So on both accounts your FACTS are wrong, hopelessly and unequivocably WRONG! Now more importantly and as I alluded to earlier, you bitch on about Redknapp, fine, no problem with that, however the FACTS are his record is bettered only by Arthur Rowe, now that’s a fact, look it up, and lastly where is this mythical striker, who is this man?, now go away and train with the stiffs, as you’re not worthy of any future corresponce with me until you grow up and acknowedge how ridiculous your views are!

        • eastanglianspur says:

No I won’t allow you to do anything as far as I am concerned you arrogant so and so. OK my memory is not what it used to be but Keane did come back and play for us without Berbasulk and never performed and that is the point being made here and well you know it – Keane was pants without Berbasulk; Defoe is pants without Adeboy – Redknapp is not a good manager and Levy is a corporate spiv. Now get used to it ‘cos I ain’t changing my views for you or anyone else. And you can take your BS ‘balance’ and go take a hike with it.

        • Essexian76 says:

In closing look up that word I asked you to on so many previous occasions which is BIGOT. Now a bigot is someone who still holds a view or opinion despite overwhelming facts and evidence to the contrary. If you consider me arrogant, I’ve no problem, however, I don’t consider you at all, BFN!

        • eastanglianspur says:

Your only evidence is statistics nothing else. There are lies, damnable lies and then there are statistics. Which means they can be twisted and perverted to make any fucking argument you want. Have you secured that government post yet. What a great politician you would make. Give me bigotry any day. Let’s face it, it’s so politically incorrect and I love being that.

  • bukkake-breath says:

cant see lennon walking back into the team now its made a big difference without his aimless running around.. plus sandros got a better haircut than him

    • Phil McAvity says:

Sandro has got a better haircut, but Lennon has got go-faster stripes in his eyebrows! never underestimate the go-faster stripes!!

  • Boy Charioteer says:

What’s this BS in the Sunday Mirror about VDV going to join his supermodel missus in Italia?

    • Essexian76 says:

Mischief, one and one making eleven by a hack who’s fed up with ball scratching. Defoe hits form, Rafa’s on the bench, therefore he (Rafa) must be on his way. Like Bale saying he’s definately going abroad, which didn’t actually say, all he said was he wouldn’t be frightened of playing abroad, big difference.

  • onedavemackay says:

The scene is the office of Harold Redknapp esq Association football manager

“Mr Walker your attacking I like. I like your attacking. A lovely attacking ability for the role. That’s what I said when I saw you come in. I said “A lovely attacking ability for the role.” I’ve got nothing against your attacking. The trouble is your defending you are deficient in it”
