What’s With The VdV Hate?

Guten tag,

Yesterday the news filtered out that Raphael Van der Vaart had been fast tracked on the old mendy mendy by Marjoe Von Toorn.

Now, not just on here but across the Internet there was resounding response somewhere between ‘so what?’ and ‘so what’s the good news?’

I won’t say I was shocked, sometimes even the most devoutly intelligent football fans get ‘footballed out’ and after another messiah free transfer window and an Interlull, it was always possible this news might get a somewhat muted response.

But has the shine really gone off the flying Dutchman that much?  He irritated the hell out of me in the Yanited game, but I put that down to Arry telling him he had a choice, he could hoof it to Pete or go for gold against the Manc man child.

Van der Vaart was a revelation last season. He was bloody excellent in the main, passing, scoring and kissing little old ladies on the nut like nobody’s business.

Now he seems to be viewed by a good many as a liability. Can any one explain why we don’t need him anymore?

They seemed compatible enough when beating Arsenal and Inter, they seemed to gel right enough against most teams in the top six, it was against the bottom sides we struggled, and struggled badly I might add. That’s application and a lack of managerial nous, not compatibly!

Rafa was nominally lined up on the right against L’Arse as well. Two wide players works when attacking on the break and when a healthy Thudd can play the long diagonal ball to them, but we need to play through the middle against most teams. The manager needs to do more than focus on player match ups and work more on movement as a team.

The vdv situation is unfortunately down to the gullible moronic following who are happy to have their thinking done for them. Some wind up journo pointed out that vdv wasn’t there when we made top four – therefore it’s his fault. Not the fact it’s a different season, not the fact players like hudd were out, and our actual strikers suffered bad form, not that harry threw it all at the champions league and let the most important competition the premier league flag by the wayside. and of course not the important fact that city moved their spending and building up about ten gears. Vdv is a player of true class of whom we need more of. Simple as that.

Blimey, it’s like Petticoat Lane or the old temple of Jerusalem here these days, I had to elbow my way past the Pimps and Panhandlers at the door just to find a quiet spot to comment!

Wazzup HH? bank manager on your ass again? Mdme de H threatening you with divorce and alimony payments? unknown progeny arrive on your door step? Maybe you could bang a pony on HR to be gone before xmas or something…;)

As with many on this site,I cannot understand why VDV gets so much critisim. He is a quality player, who at times has an off day.Im more worried about out friend Modric, and his attitude. We are told he is a true proffesional.Well he certainly did not look like it against his time on the park, against City.VDV is at least committed to the club. And to me thats a major plus.

VdV Haters?!?! Surely this can’t be true….he is far and away one of our best players… agree with those saying he is poorly deployed. I personally am starting to believe that this is yest another indication that Harry has taken us as far as he can. We need new leadership, someone who will let our youngsters into the side, and who has more creative vision and flair themselves….
