Rubin Kazan Indoors

Good mid morning and welcome to the Europa.

My first observation is that Rubin Kazan would have been a great name for a character in Angel Heart. And my second is that this will be the battle of the nearly men.

Louis Cyphre: Are you an atheist?
Harry Angel: Yeah, I’m from Brooklyn.

Sure I was put back in my box by the vast majority of you that voted in a recent poll. Things have changed and clearly most people don’t give as stuff about this competition. So tonight will be interesting as I believe that  Rubin Kazan do care and they will be fielding their finest.

So will Arry play the kids? My guess is that the side will remain slanted that way. The Europa is a pleasant enough distraction for the up and coming players but essentially a nuisance in respect of the first teamers. Why would he make dramatic changes now?

Gio and Pav are pretty much guaranteed a start I guess. So if they fail again to set the world alight being serviced by children, their coffins will have definitely more nails in than wood.

I hope I am wrong. I hope we get cracker of a game, but if we do it may be down to the visitors kick starting proceedings.

Tottenham currently trail their Russian visitors on goal difference having collected four points from a possible six.

Like you H I always believed that Spurs playing in Europe is still a big thing. But then my football educators included Bill Nick, Danny B, the Legendary Jim etc. But this Europa thingy is a bit tarnished however … us being in it is a bit like the fading film icon now being offered bit parts in Eastenders, or ‘I’m a celeb’ ( I’m in the Europa League – get me out of here?)
On the other hand it’d be good to get through to the knock outs, where once the weather warms up we can get a few boozy outtings to Spain and Portugal, and the like. What’s to lose?

Something to remember, although a little while ago, is that Rubin Kazan turned over Barca 2-1 in the group stages of the CL in 2009/10. So a win can not be taken for granted. Although if I remember correctly they got a spanking at the Nou Camp.

Obviously with all our injuries we can not field too many first teamers. But hopefully we can qualify out of the group with the back up / youth players. I hope we take it a little more seriously once in the knock out phase, by which time we should have a few back from injury. There is a serious possibility that we could win it if we do…
