Paok Scratchings

Wotcha.

I’m genuinely fighting the urge to declare this game a non event before a ball is kicked. The previous leg Top 10’d in the World’s Worst Games Of Football Ever™ with several fans who made the journey finding themselves nominated for Nobel Laureats.

We’ve been here before. I bemoan the team selection providing entertainment and value for money in the process alienating a good few readers and those who don’t give a monkey’s how I see it remind anyone who’s still bothering to read that it’s great to see the kids given a run out.

Word is that ticket sales have been suspended for security and safety reasons. This precaution might well be explained by a sizable number of Greek fans bellowing ‘Gowaaaanmysan!’ rather than any traffic backing up from Gatwick.

The game is on 2005hrs GMT on Channel 5 and if you’re watching anywhere else in the world… this arrangement will be unaffected.

It is very difficult to get excited for this when my whole attention is focused on this weekends PL fixture. However, for a young player at Spurs this must mark the best ever window of opportunity for them. Many of the fringe players look to be in limbo and the chances of getting a game (as a sub) with the main team must be truly inspiring.

This is a great platform for the youngen’s and I expect them to take it. 2-0

I’m watching in Indonesia, which means laptop to ground floor of apartments and wi-fi (pick up a stream). Hope it will be worth it, getting up for a 03:05am K.O when I have work at 6am. Ahh it’s Tottenham, I’ll be up, Yids!!!!

I am attending, for my sins, even after declaring after the Rubiks Cubaan game that i would not go to another group stage home match, what can i say, i’m a glutton for punishment.

Best headline + caption yet, hats off! My blind loyalty and zombielike need to support anything with a chicken badge on it means I am offended by your opposition to our pearly king’s ‘squad rotation’. What bugs me is that there is no real strength in depth, I don’t fancy seeing the lightweight Fredericks and the unlikely-to-score Kane thrashing about for ninety minutes. Worse, if Citeh blow it in the CL then they will need to be confronted somewhere down the line; worse still, when the great leader is in HMP what happens to the best run since the double?

Not quite the best run since the Double. We went 28 games unbeaten including winning the FA cup in a run that ran from Jan to Sep 68.

      • Alspur says:

Blimey! So, our best run for 43 years? Feck me!

        • SpurredoninDublin says:

We had a run of six league wins in that sequence. I think that was the last time we did that. With Bolton and then Stoke next up, winning both games will give us our best winning sequence since the double.

If you are looking at league only, we went 22 games in 1949 without a defeat. Won Div 2 and then the following year, won our first title

Impressive stat, especially as we won the FA Cup in 1967 (West Brom won in 1968)

I will be at the Lane tonight and looking forward to whatever team our glorious leader (formerly known as wet spam reject ;-)) chooses to put out, winning and putting us through to the next round. COYS!!!!
