‘We’ll Agree An Amicable Farewell’

Good morning.

It’s Corluka talking to the Daily Mail.

Redknapp chose Walker and doesn’t see me in the defence, so it is logical to sit round the table and agree an amicable farewell. I will talk to people in the next few days.

‘I don’t have the will again to wait months for a chance, to fight for a position when I see that the coach has other ideas.’

Walker hasn’t been perfect, but he has been a step up on Corluka. Charlie started off brightly and you’ll recall that there was a decent mumble on City forums that he was decent chap and would be missed when he joined us.

His early showings were promising. There was a certain self assured manner about him. But that didn’t last long and chancers like me started comparing his athleticism with that of pantomime horse’s.

His undoing was his total predictability. Like Begbie before him he made the same runs up the wing and largely achieved nothing very memorable with them.

But I say this. If he’s on what, the wrong end of £30k a week and cannot be bothered to earn the right to play – then he might want to dwell upon the wisdom of announcing this to any prospective purchasers.

Stupid boy.

    Pike….West Ham scarf…..coincidence?

It’ll be a shame to let Charlie leave. Firstly he’s versatile and experienced and a decent bloke. Also my daughter will be distraught and is bound to throw a wobbly for a few days when he departs.

He’s about as versatile as a horse with 3 legs. I’ve never seen him looking comfortable with the ball either, more like a rabbit in headlights when it comes his way. Been loyal, but that’s about it i’m afraid. Doubt we’ll get back much of the 7-8 mill we laid out on him. Wish him all the best though, au revoir Charlie boy !

That possibly explains why I’m shit at betting on the nags, thanks for that. Still I like Charlie (not that sort), and think we’ve a better squad with him in it-innit!

I’m from Essex, born in 76 too……it goes hand in hand ! Anyway back to football again, if push comes to shove, Kaboul can fill that right back slot easily in Walkers absence. Gallas & Dawson to return to the centre blah blah, i think we’re more than covered there ! Cheers

I’m neither from Essex, just live there now, nor born in 1976, just an old house number, but yes we’re covered at right back, but this season and next we’ll need a better squad than we currently have, because if you look at City v Liverpool for example, City despite their abundance of quality, were shattered after two tough games plus the travel . If we’re to make an impact it’s vital that good experienced players are retained for the remained of this term with an eye on next season, but if Charlie want’s out, then he’s one player I’d applaud if he returns in another teams shirt.

You idiot. That was translated from a Croatian website.

The last paragraph is utter tosh.

Just wonder who he thinks will come in for him. His statement hardly sends out the right message to any potential suitors. He will not get offers from any current Top 7 side apart from possibly Newcastle. That means he is looking at clubs like Everton (no money), West Brom, Norwich (they take him and we take Kylie 2 back as we did with Villa last season), Villa (do they need another right back, no), Sunderland (in complete turmoil), Stoke, or possibly Fulham . If he is allowed to leave I imagine DL will be looking for £4-5million. Shame in a way as he is a decent squad player but I fear that him and Krankie will both move on because they just will not get many games for us. Both are slow but they would almost look pacey in the current Liverpool side.

    • TinTin says:

Are you aware that there are actually clubs outside the premier League?

    • SpurredoninDublin says:

      @Anthony

Always felt sorry for Krankie. There aren’t many teams he wouldn’t get into, but he would probably have to wait for five of our m/f to be out before he would get a shout. For those who have decried all of HR’s transfer dealings, I think this was HR’s greatest bargain at less than £3 mill

Be a shame if he does go. His understanding with Lennon was almost telepathic at times, but Walker’s clearly the way forward so I can understand him maybe wanting to leave. I remember a game against Villa a couple of years ago when, for some reason best known to himself, Harry played Zokora at right back and he was given a thorough roasting by Ashley Young. Harry saw sense and replaced Zokora with Corluka and Young’s threat disappeared immediately.

A good, solid pro who’ll be an excellent acquisition for whoever does take him on.
