‘We’ll Agree An Amicable Farewell’

Good morning.

It’s Corluka talking to the Daily Mail.

Redknapp chose Walker and doesn’t see me in the defence, so it is logical to sit round the table and agree an amicable farewell. I will talk to people in the next few days.

‘I don’t have the will again to wait months for a chance, to fight for a position when I see that the coach has other ideas.’

Walker hasn’t been perfect, but he has been a step up on Corluka. Charlie started off brightly and you’ll recall that there was a decent mumble on City forums that he was decent chap and would be missed when he joined us.

His early showings were promising. There was a certain self assured manner about him. But that didn’t last long and chancers like me started comparing his athleticism with that of pantomime horse’s.

His undoing was his total predictability. Like Begbie before him he made the same runs up the wing and largely achieved nothing very memorable with them.

But I say this. If he’s on what, the wrong end of £30k a week and cannot be bothered to earn the right to play – then he might want to dwell upon the wisdom of announcing this to any prospective purchasers.

Stupid boy.

Hard to believe that Dr Kovac is ready to pull up stakes after only a third of a season. It’s not like our back four are likely to escape injury, unless he’s afraid Scotty P’s presence has gone beyond rejuvenating Ledley’s knee.

In the last two games Defoe’s goals were significant; had he passed in either case a score might not have resulted. Nor is he incapable of distribution. In some ways the constant harping on goals, how many goals did so and so score last season/this season, etc. is to blame. If we made the same fuss about assists and the rest, if those statistics were given prominence in contract negotiations, perhaps Defoe and his ilk would have developed into more rounded players.

As to Corluka. I hope he stays. Partly because it will help with Modric and company, but mostly because he is far too intelligent and skilled a player to be let go. He compensates for lack of speed pretty effectively with good positioning and reading of the game. Plus I’m tired of all this talk of speed. Barcelona are not the success they are because of speed. Nor Citeh.

I have been waiting for ‘Arry to start rotating, and now that the FA cup is looming I hope he will. With Defoe and Dos Santos (not just in Europa games), with Sandro, Livermore, Huddlestone, and so on, with Corluka and Rose, etc. Surely this is the way to keep players’ skills in frame, and to make them feel more a part of the team.

I think the problem with rotating players is that if we play 4-5-1, we only have one player capable of leading the line.

I like charlie he doesnt hide and is skilful and has a great link up with Lennon. he is also very experienced at a high level and brings stability. his games in europe last season were outstanding till that twonk flamini le arse tried to end his carreer with a two footed challenge, born out of his hatred for our chicken badge.
Walker can be outstanding going forward but is more prone to be out of position at the moment.

I say fair play to Vedran for not being content to sit on the bench and bag his wages. The likes of Jenas, Keane and Bentley have been slagged off on this very forum for not being willing to drop their wage demands in order to get 1st team football elsewhere.

Good thought. Reflects my feelings, except I personally don’t think players should give any story to the press that can be negative, very rarely hear such stories coming out of Man U, Arsenal or Chelsea…

      • Hartley says:

Have you met our Manager? ^^

        • Spurstacus says:

I did put it to ‘arry that he was a little loose of lip, and he was kind enough to respond. Fair play to him.

I think he was still under the propofol at the time

  • Steveo1987 says:

Well, for Man U and the Chavs, their players actions speak louder than their words. Laughs out loud! As for the gooner’s, Twatter on twitter……

Old muvver whenger went to the cupboerd to get her van pervy a bone ,but when she got there the cupboard was bare(again) so the poor van pervie got none.

Always had a lot of time for Charlie.

So Corluka lacks pace. Kranjcar lacks pace. This has got me thinking.

Anyone recall seeing a croatian 100m sprinter in competitive action. Maybe weve stumbled upon something.
