Norwich full-back Kyle Naughton picked up the most sensible booking of his career during last night’s pulsating 2-2 draw with Wolves.
Naughton received his fifth yellow card of the season to earn himself an automatic one-match ban. That rules him out of the Boxing Day clash with Tottenham. Disastrous news for Paul Lambert, eh?
Well, not really. Spurs are Naughton’s parent club and as part of the agreement between the two Premier League sides he was already obliged to sit the match out.
A happily-timed suspension and a full turkey dinner on Christmas Day. Good work, Kyle.
In other selection news, the still unclear eligibility of Gareth Bale et al has taken on new urgency with the news that Chelsea are to have Howard Webb AND Chris Foy in their starting line-up on Thursday night.
Perhaps this will be the game where this dynamic duo come together to make good their many bad decisions against us. In which case I expect 10 red cards for John Terry alone, and for us to run out as comfortable 21-minus 7 winners.
