A Trio Of Toe Tapping Tottenham Terrace Tunes

Good morning one and all.

In the absence of anything approaching credible football I thought it would be nice to share some stuff that we’ve been working on for Hotspur’s Half Hour. Perhaps this might spark your imagination, if so get in touch and we’ll steal your idea faster than you can say, ‘not guilty’.

Pavyluchencko on his way out? Well we hope not. Whilst the same tired transfer tales do the rounds – Newcastle and Sunderland – but it’s all down to Levy & Co to decide what class of loss they are prepared or not to prepared to take on him.

We think he’s a class act who admittedly needs to buck his ideas up, but by  same token get more motivation than, ‘run abaht a bit’.

Next up is Mr Kyle Walker. Here is a guy with perhaps not the world at his feet but certainly a huge future. Can he play within himself, be disciplined and make a  real name for himself? I hope so.

Both he and Livermore have been given massive opportunities here and need to remember that time is on their side. Footballers that deliver 7/10 + performances every week get routinely picked to play and improve over time. Players who try and smash out a 10/10 showing every week tend to trip up. They get seen – quite rightly – as sporadic. Footballing Halls Of Fame don’t tend to be littered with players who were ‘breathtaking every other full moon.’

Let’s hope he gets defending nailed and then blossoms once he’s done that.

Track contains one grown up swear word.

Last up is Sebastien Bassong. Given his experience he arguably should have done better. Like Pav, he’s sort of fallen into the no man’s land of not being picked, no one in a hurry to lodge a mega bid. That said this tune’s so good, who cares?!

Funny bit of fun those tunes, nice 1. Lets hear the whole lot soon, I hope Sandro has a decent No. H ! Maybe his will be to “hey Mambo, Sandro Braziliana !” ?

Just been prompted by the reminder of the “run abaht a bit” tactical instruction famously issued to HH’s favourite Russian forward player (hesitate to say ‘striker’). Has it occurred that the Great Leader may have said to our young potential-laden ‘full back’ that he should ” bomb up the wing a bit”? I think the (misplaced) affection/admiration for Pav is inversely proportional to the (misplaced) disaffection / dissappointment with young Kyle.
Willingness / enthusiasm is to be encouraged – and maybe accepted – in spite of youthful shortcomings. The ‘can’t be arsedness’ of more experienced internationals is not a trait to be admired, I suggest.

    • LLL says:

The fact is he scored a very important goal that day, with those very instructions.

In any case, the argument that Pav may just need better coaching is surely weakened by the fact that he has played under 3 managers and been piss poor throughout – a smattering of attractive goals aside.

Not without an adequate replacement and hopefully an upgrade, but I do hope we finally rid ourselves of Pav this week. He’s been here too long without doing anything to justify it. I fear that Levy will dig his heels in though, hold out for a totally unrealistic fee for a borderline completely shit player aged 30 and our failure to sign anything resembling a striker will carry on :-(

      • SpurredoninDublin says:

He only played under two managers while here, and in the case of Ramos, he was gone within two months of PAV signing.

If it’s a question of coaching, then he has had 97% of his time here under HH.

My personal view is that I am in the camp that feels he has never had the opportunity of a decent run under HR. Not saying that he would have done any better, but for the last two seasons, he has been our most prolific scorer in terms of minutes per goal and his ratio if he had played as first choice would be over 20 PL goals a season.

I’m of the opinion he could be a tree, as he stands in a field and does bugger all most of the year, but bears fruit now and then.

        • TMWNN says:

Don’t agree. Those goals to minutes get a bit distorted when you consider that a lot of the minutes he’s had, have been Micky Mouse Minutes,i.e. in the beer cup or the Eura loser cup up against equally weak players. He’s had chances in the past and done naff all.

Defoe’s strike rate also stands up to scrutiny, even in the league, but if your game is solely about scoring and adding bugger all else, your strike rate had better be a bit special.

Time to get shot of the pair of ’em.

Dub, just move closer to the brick wall, it saves time. ‘There are none so blind that cannot see’

      • SpurredoninDublin says:

You may well be right, but I do wonder if things would have been different if he had been given a run in the side.

        • LLL says:

My problem with this argument is that in almost all of his opportunities, his game time, he has been almost completely awful, and then occasionally popped up with a goal. I don’t mean just Defoe ‘doing nothing’ bad, but actually ‘counter-productive to the team’ bad – in the wrong place, making a bad pass, bad touch, not closing down, falling over under any kind of challenge – all that kind of bad.

I too once held the sentimental idea that perhaps all he needed was a cuddle and the right kind of encouragement but I have long lost tolerance with him. I thank him for the goal against Wolves and the 3 points but I think it’s best for both parties that we end this little dance as soon as possible – and Pav and Harry both seem to know this, hopefully Levy has also seen how poor he generally is and that getting anything like 7 or 8 million for him at this stage would be a very good bit of business indeed – forget 10-15m – it ain’t gonna happen!!

        • LLL says:

And by Wolves, I mean Sunderland. Ahem.

        • SpurredoninDublin says:

          @TMWNN

You may be correct about the minutes being distorted, but at the end of the day, he can only score against the teams he plays against.

Having said that, I do wish that rather than rubbishing every argument that challenges your prejudices and bigotry, you might occasionally conclude that possibly another poster might have a point. Remember, that at the end of the day, these are just opinions that we both hold, and can neither be proved or disproved.

        • TMWNN says:

          @SpurredoninDublin

I see, when I don’t agree with you, rather than it just being my opinion, I’m also a ‘bigot’ and ‘prejudice’.

Of course though, when you don’t agree with me, it’s only your opinion.

I said I didn’t agree, then gave reasons why. Not exactly rubbishing your argument or being a bigot, is it? I’ve never once said that my opinion is more worthy than your own, and believe it or not, I actually agree with a lot of what you say (and you say a lot).

If you want me to pat you on the back every time you say something I agree with, you’ve got the wrong man.

        • SpurredoninDublin says:

The thing about your posts is that as soon as someone gets on your “shitlist”, if anybody says a decent word about them, you go straight into rubbishing their post,

Take Pav. He has never had an extended run in the team, so you have to overall view about what he has been allowed to do since he has been here, which is mainly cup games, and his record in these games is probably one of the best in the country. But because these are cup games, you belittle him.

Defoe, who also appears on your shitlist from time to time, is our top scorer so far this season. He is one goal behind Ade in PL goals and his minutes per goal far outstrips Ade. In this particular case, perhaps you could explain why we should ignore this stat, when the bulk of his goals are not cup goals.

In a recent post, thought I was talking about HR, I used the word “tragedy” in the event that he received a custodial. You challenged my use of this word because it was being applied to HR. this. I am sure we will agree to differ on this but in my view, most cases where people are jailed are tragic. But you tell me. You have a 64 year old man, never been convicted of anything in his life, he has a family, and he is enjoying the greatest success of his career and you challenge that it might be a tragedy for him and or his family because you don’t like the man.

It is not difficult to agree or disagree with anybody, but when the posts are made by somebody who will not accept any good word about those on their shitlist and will all use any opportunity to do them down, then that is prejudice and bigotry.

        • TMWNN says:

          In your opinion.

  • Jeremy says:

Not bad, We could adapt that song for Kyle Walker to the stands…

(while clapping) Oh his name is Kyle, Kyle, Kyle, Kyle, Kyle, Kyle, Kyle, Kyle Walkaaaaaaahhhh!!!

Oh his name is Kyle, Kyle, Kyle, Kyle, Kyle, Kyle, Kyle, Kyle Walkaaaaaaahhhh!!!

    And repeat

  • Chirpy says:

Yes but the hypothetically contemptuous / defamatory* act is committed by the ‘publisher’, not the ‘consumer’ of such information.

*i.e. does not concern the jury/ors; If publication could cause someone to be shunned by their ‘right thinking’ peers then slander/libelous, particularly if later found to be incorrect.

  • SpurredoninDublin says:

I think I picked out in the background, the distinctive sound of Sid Trotter playing the spoons he uses to put marmalade on his prawn cocktail.
