Arry Blew It : Ratings, Home Truths & A Call For Sanity

Reality bites.

Look I know you can’t win every game. I get that. But at the same time there are simple steps one can take to guard against giving frankly mediocre opposition what can only be called …an even break. And that is what, without possible lucid argument to the contrary is what Wolves got today.

Our corners suck. And that’s me being hugely charitable. Me just getting going... You want to win the Barclays Premier League? Then you need to think about what went wrong. Wolves didn’t simply draw – we failed to win.

7.432 Easy to have a pop at Goalies. He made at least two saves of some note. Let’s not lose sight of this, eh?

4.101 Give me a break. Preferably a swift, high speed decapitation. Here we have a chap who quite probably was a damn good 200m runner at school. Fascinating. Clearly he has much to give. Or does he? He’s not skilled enough to execute the current role he has been given. Charged with acting above his pay grade and found guilty.

6.765 Just when we thought that his Royal Hoofness had rescinded his backward ways. Let’s not harp on. He’s a stand up guy, but today he looked rustier than his comeback performance. And that is fair comment.

5.999 Another one. Younes, your attacking runs are completely undermined by their ultimate uselessness. Harsh? Don’t bore me with child like appreciation of his majestic forays, dear reader… they ended in nothingness.

7.786 Subbed for Danny Rose. Wha? Majoritively, his performances are rather good. What was going on in Redschnapp’s mind? Answers on a postcard.

6.564 Physically feeling the strain. Needs a rest but who is there to provide his replacement? No one. So why encourage a knackered player to run forward?

6.674 Predictable, borderline dull. Threatened width, but preferred too frequently cut in. Needs to be able to provide a decent cross. Some will speak of ‘pluck’ and ‘effort’ …I wish that mob well. I like achievements. What a vicious task-master I truly am.

6.444 Borderline rubbish. Guilty of being complacent with his consistently wasteful shots and rapidly wearing out his welcome with this rather self indulgent ‘license to roam’ cobblers. Here’s a tip – you’re brilliant on the left wing – so stick to that. Livermore, Walker and Bale all need managing.

7.001 Is this chancer remotely intent upon staying in January? I’m unconvinced. Thanks for the goal. love. No really, thank you. Stop looking like it’s ‘not quite up to scratch for you’  you toad and be all you can be. Far too many instances of, ‘what am I to do?’ hand waving.

7.000 Not a great day at the office but I’m completely unconvinced that was his fault. You use international play-makers as …play-makers

6.079 Unconvinced there is much wrong occurring here. His goal was not offside. He’s intelligent, he’s highly skilled. So it must be the distribution: Please see my comments on Bale & Walker.

Reading utter bollocks like this makes me sad to be a spurs fan sometimes. Did you go? Walker did well, Rafa was shite and Defoe should have been on earlier.

    • Harry Hotspur says:

      Genius.

    • onedavemackay says:

I also think Walker was OK but in what way was Rafa shite? The guy creates, keeps possession and always gets a shot or two away. I don’t think he had his best game but to describe that as shite is extraordinary.

Defoe added very little. He’s a decent striker but creates very few chances. Without Rafa there is no way we would have created 22 attempts on goal and against a team that ‘parks the bus’ that’s pretty good going. We were unlucky today having got most things right.

Its mad how people see the game in different ways, I felt Ade and Parker were our weak links today!Understandable for Parker as he has been out injured.

Rafa looked good to me, maybe ran out of ideas towards the end though.

As for Walker, i thought he and Benny were our best attacking options today, bombed on loads of times.

Bale i would rather see on the left a bit more, and WTF has gone wrong with his shooting in the last 4-5 games? Maybe because half his shots are now with his right foot, blazing over the bar, what happened to the low left footed drives into the far corner?

On the corners issue, have a look at everton how they put corners right under the crossbar, horrible to defend. Our corners hit the 1st man more than half the time and like someone said earlier, its hard to get excited if we get a corner, because you know the oppo will have the ball in no time.

Sometimes it isn’t all going to fall into place, and today I’m afraid was one of them days, can’t be too harsh on them as they have given us one hell of a half a season so far!

I think the Walker effect is dragging Baler down…who is this upstart Walker? you know, the guy who wants to be me! Yeah wtf….
Walker is too early! and will cause disharmony in the camp…Baler should take Walker behind the bike shed and teach him some respect, before he has a chance to do any more damage, ‘cos Walker wants to steal Bales thunder.
Arry don’t gerit. He’s still Trouty for me , I laid of him lately because of his health… but i’m back to trout bashing… we should have won that farce of a game today ffck fack FACK
Livermore’s a better prospect than Walker

      • #Q`1 says:

Hes fuckin in the team too score not look good Modric has that Job. One goal since October deserves the Bench Defoe is a real striker and Ady wants him to play i have heard on the Local Bacon Counter

    • DAVSPURS says:

Van Has bean shit since the Qpr game and Defoes New Agent and Liverpool are watching.

  • Alspur says:

I’m glad the boys have 8 days’ rest, now, before the City game (City only have 6…) – it’s been a gruelling Winter schedule and you can see it in the performances: the passing and movement aren’t as sharp and we ran out of steam in the last 15 minutes (when, normally, we’d be swarming all over them…)

On top of the whole Xmas / New Year fixture pile-up, some bright spark jemmies in our game against Everton mid-week…

I’m anticipating a far fresher performance, next weekend… Let’s teach the Manchester Oilers a footballing lesson… COYS!!!

  • antmoorwood says:

Thats all a bit harsh pal!
So we did’nt play that well, you’re far too quick to slag em off! For gods sake we’re 3rd in the league with a chance to win it (still a good chance) for the first time in 50 years! your very quick to give the team stick. We didn’t loose. We will be in the champions league next season for sure. Be happy for us and stop fu**ing moaning, you miserable C***!
I like your page and read daily, but this is shit. If we win at city next week, you’ll be saying how great all the above players are!!
Be a supporter, not a critic and Harry….. have a word with yourself!

    • Harry Hotspur says:

      How dare you.

You come on here, free of charge and tell me how I should feel/write/think = moron.

If we win at city next week, you’ll be saying how great all the above players are!!

My God, please, I beg you. Stop reading. Mail your address and I will send you money to stop reading. You are not my demographic.

      How depressing you posted…

      • antmoorwood says:

I’m not alone in my what I say, having read a lot of comments on here. ‘How depressing I posted’? you happy to criticise the players, but cant take it yourself?! If you don’t want fellow fans oppinions, don’t run a blog! I agree with a lot of your posts, but not todays. the team needs support. I agree with another post ‘ Walker has been fantastic this season ‘ and the first time you get a chance you slag him off. I remember your write up after we beat the goons….. the sun shone out his arse! You have really wound me up today Harry. You Knob ed! ;-)

        • Harry Hotspur says:

You dart around so much with what you say it’s difficult to nail your jellied spine to a wall, but not impossible.

You appear to welcome my opinion when it doesn’t conflict with your own. Whilst that is without question depressing, you then compound the matter by failing to grasp the sorrow that is mistaking your ‘opinion’ for fact and a barometer for how this blog should function.

I’m not alone in my what I say, having read a lot of comments on here

Give it a rest love and do not attempt to conjour up a body of support. You and one other out of who 5000 today? In an election you would have lost your deposit and not just your face.

This blog is for thinkers, bums, stiffs and costamongers. When I need someone to tell me what to write, I’ll post a notice to that end.

So whilst you attempt to fill that eternal void , sharpen your wit, engage your brain or alternatively – and indeed preferably – click elsewhere.

        • greg says:

Oh, I soooooooooooooooo agree with your words, Ant!

        • antmoorwood says:

Thanks Greg. I’m trying to be reasonable and get my point across, yet Harry Hotspur seems to think he can belittle people who choose to disagree with him. How the hell you can judge me and my intelligence (if thats the right spelling :-)) without even knowing me, is proof that you are yourself a bit thick!. I do welcome your opinion H, but felt you went too far today, and your post was Very negative. I’m not trying to win vote or an election, you should be demogratic in accepting my views aswell as pushing your own. And dont call me love

      • DBsKnees says:

“You come on here, free of charge”

        “You are not my demographic”.

Whilst I side with HH’s insistence that he is free to write what he wants – the above comments speak volumes.

HH – this blog is aimed at Spurs fans right? So as much as you wish your demographic were beardy, arthouse intellectual hipsters who hangout in trendy bars in Dalston (oh yeah that happen to support Spurs, for fun maybe?), I think your idealistic view is simply that. Spurs fans come in all shapes and sizes – try and be a little more inclusive eh?

Also if you charged for this blog as well – I would love to see how many of your ‘click’ would stump up. (From what I see on here day-to-day you have quite a few peeps with their noses lodged firmly up your arse).

        • Harry Hotspur says:

Did you read that before hitting submit? You ask me to ne more ‘inclusive’ and then trot out some cobblers vaguely directed at readers you call beardy arthouse types. Nice work.

Also your idea that three or four idiots constitute a groundswell of opinion that I ought pander to is wonderfully naive. Two of those twits were ‘using the same computer’ and out of 5000 people they (and you) are no more than chaff.

And I have to hand it to you with your hysterical fantasy whereby if I charged readers I wouldn’t take much money. If you have any more business models like that up your sleeve do share them, I can always do with a laugh.

Lastly, let me c&p from a comment I made earlier, see if you recognize anyone:

If I read a blog like this and disagreed with it I’d exercise some self control and click elsewhere.

Or am I expected to burst into tears, repent my evil ways and confess that bloody Walker belting forward like Forest Gump and then losing the ball was great football?

        • Phil McAvity says:

Trendy bars in Dalston? The only bars I saw there were the metal ones someone was holding as they were trying to mug you! At least that’s what it’s like where my Nan used to live in Dalston!

        • MysteriousStranger says:

Does Astromesmo hang out in the trendy bars? Does he have a beard? I like his contributions, even if we’ve disagreed from time to time. Well, most of the time! And intellect is not to be sniffed at. Dalston for the win :-D

      • DAVSPURS says:

        Are you Scitzo Harry H

    • aqaljuta says:

Totally agree with u HH, Redknap’s strategy last nite was awful. Yeah, it should be the year after that 50 years but the way we played last nite and should we continue to play just like last nite, guess we have to wait for another 50 years.

Hope Pav shows what he’s really capable of at Etihad.
      COYS!

      • Timbo Hotspur says:

oh boohoo someone made a mean comment about me, as the writer of the article I need to bash them! How dare this guy come on MY BLOG and put his OPINION. Dude, as the poster you shouldn’t be anywhere near as harsh toward varying opinions as you were, I’ve read you plenty of times, yes I think this article was to harsh on our team. I didn’t hold it against you until I saw your childish responses. I guess I’ll just not read, considering it’s free and I shouldn’t be allowed to state if my opinion vary’s from yours, guess I’m not your demographic. Perhaps you’re having a bad day? I’ll be a spurs fan for life, that should be your demograph.

  • Lr says:

A tad bit harsh, HH! But agreed. We were utter rubbish today. We made Wolves feel they were Real Madrid.
The problem truly is Harry is way beyond his wits here. He says he doesn’t expect us to win the title and they played like it. Bar the Everyon game, we’ve had it moving! We have the players but we need tactics to move us on. And, the players say ‘Arry doesn’t talk tactics. Still looking up though. Really scared of getting a cc spot. But I think we’ll pull thru

    • DAVSPURS says:

We need a player who is blessed with two feet can hit a pass with back spin and speed. One who can hit 50 yard passes chip passes through balls and create space for forwards and save energy. He must do this by switching play help out with crosses defending and taking free kicks and can score the odd thunderbolt like Benny Hurry up Huddelstone (hair)

  • abe says:

Yikes. I am disappointed but these things happen. I think you are being overly harsh. On another day, no corner and no offside decision. Hopefully we will get some breaks too, and the tough games coming up might be a good thing

    • DAVSPURS says:

Not while we are favs 11/4 the draw 7/1 win how much do linesmen stroke women get no wonder Fifa warned the premiership about match fixing last week.Rooney dad backing a player getting sent off should have rang a few bells. Three offsides all onside all from a player onside who is on loan froma team on top of the prem with loads a dosh mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
