I Suggest You Demand A Refund Today

Good morning.

Not for the first time B Sky B have got my goat.

The ‘new’ low camera angle at White Hart Lane is a disaster. But what I want to put before you today, ladies and gentlemen of the jury is that whilst the debate of personal taste in relation to TV camera positioning is a valid and fascinating one the underlying issue here is the picking of your pocket.

I support the motion to restore the original camera angle that was high, haughty, chic and proud. It scanned nobly across The Lane and was instantly recognizable.

The angle could have only been changed for two possible reasons. The first, which Sky are attempting to field at fans, is the issue of occasional obstructions from caused by stand supporting pillars.  This is wonderfully considerate from an organization who’s standards of customer care would usually be more at home in The Stasi.

The second reason which Sky are reticent about is that the lower angle paves the way for 3D. 3D is a dead duck of course. But if media executives can get you to don a pair of disgustingly uncomfortable and cheap glasses and pump 240 volts into the duck’s corpse it does twitch a bit.

The 3D system requires that there is ‘less steep’ view of the subject matter in order to provide opportunity for perspective. So the lower you go, the greater contrast you are afforded and your 3D experience is enhanced.

And the third reason that Sky are unlikely to ever even acknowledge is that the in-stadia digital media becomes a more of a barrage rather than the perhaps occasionally subliminal effect it used to have.

But having tempted you with three reasons to get angry. Here’s the knockout punch.  And it’s wonderfully simple.

Seat prices in football stadiums work to, if you like, an industry standard in the manner they are generated. Dependent upon where you sit in White Hart Lane – in order to replicate the old TV angle – it could could cost you up to £80 to get that view. The new angle is probably equivalent to a seat perhaps valued more around the £43 mark.

So why pay a premium seat price for a lesser seat view? Why would you do that?

We are of course hostage to these bums. But if you want to trim Sky’s margins opposed to throw the bubbelah out with the bathwater then one trick is to switch suppliers. You won’t change the angle, but you’ll be putting less in Rupe’s pocket for the privilege.

Alternatively you can sign this HERE let’em know it stinks and you’re not got gonna take it anymore.

I think he must be having a bad hair day! It makes me laugh that individuals who have such a low opinion of you, and this great forum, even bother to read it. Sad, lonely people…

Spurs have always been one of the best live teams to watch BECAUSE of the camera angle. The new camera angle is very poor, and takes a lot away from the game.

The style of football we play when we are at our very best is sooooo good to watch, but you just dont get the same impact with this new style of camera angle.

I signed the petition, but I dont hold out much hope that it will change things anytime soon.

This is the first blog you have ever put out, which is actually relavant!

The new camera angle pisses me off so much!

Who can we complain too about this, as I’m sure Sky do not have a points of view show like the BBC?

Selfish I know but I don’t mind it… I sit on the shelf and have EXACTLY the same view as the old high camera angle. It used to annoy the hell out of me that I was paying so much more money for the same view as the world at home.

  • nothin wrong at all harry….in fact im the 1 that seems to be in a good place not like the people who have agreed with you…ive an old spurs pal who is in his 60`s,he is a Matt the moaner, and a few weeks back i said to him surely u cant have anythin to moan about now only for him to moan about said camera angle…i just sat laughin at him..is that the best you can come up with i reposted..u know i think it is a natural thing for spurs fan to moan which is why we have never gotten to were we want to be..i would ask all spurs fans as a new yrs resolution including urself harold,to overlook these trivial things…i dont give a damn what kind of angle we have as long a we keep playin football from the gods and pick up 3points as regular as we have been this season..do any of us want to go back to the days when all we did was moan about everything and it seemed to vibrate to the team id doubt it..now for the sake of our team and our wonderful club Harold please stop stirring up shit..leave that to the rest of the chasing pack(i cant believe we have 1 lol)while we bask in the glory that we dreamed about :-)

The reason I asked is that normally when people post with disproportionate aggression – or seeking to tell me what to do, they have other issues lurking in their lives.

Your comment (not the rambling, dull anecdote above, the first one) fired both barrels but to no actual purpose.

The game these days is quite expensive to be even the most casual spectator of. Most fans do not routinely attend The Lane. So the issue of how the games are broadcast is actually a core one. Whether it is to you or not is not relevant.

If my optician gives me a pair of glasses – and I can’t bloody see anything as they are the entirely the wrong prescription – is the answer to tell me that there isn’t much worth looking at these days or to just give me the correct prescription?

Your point seems to be that we are doing so well on the pitch that it is unacceptable for clowns like me to point at anything remotely negative as you regard it as ‘sh*t stirring’.

Well you are wrong in a number of ways.

This blog (and it is far from unique in this respect of course) is for issues to be aired. Is Livermore the finished article? Is Arry a loudmouth? Is Azza Blud unreliable? Who knows?

But what we do not do on here is only sing when we are winning. As long as we retain a core belief that we are the mighty Tottingham then it is perfectly acceptable to question anything. It is actually a sign of caring.

Our mothers (forgive me if this didn’t apply to you) constantly told us off when we were small. Because they loved us and they were worried.
We should not have be scarred by this, rather free of scars as we managed to avoid pulling a boiled kettle on top of us and doing other daft things.

I’ve rambled, but in a nutshell, the nearest sacred cow to this blog is in Delhi and if you want happy clapping – move along.

You use phrases such as for the sake of our team. I do wish you wouldn’t. The team has I can assure you more pressing matters to hand than you policing a blog to camera angles.

      Good day, sir.

I don’t follow. I could be drinking a fine pinot noir however should it be served with a fly floating in it I am entitled to a whinge

      • Razspur says:

You are quite right, a fine Pinot Noir is a perfect accompaniment to Vegetarian dishes. It`s derived from the dark grapes of the Burgandy region and “one” would not use it to enhance any fly dish derivitave. Now in such a scenario i would most certainly take my custom elsewhere.
