Hello.

A number of Spurs fans have been reported to be, ‘devastated, but stable’  this morning after discovering that Eden Hazard won’t be a Tottenham player in time for Sunday’s game against  Stevenage.

“Of course. It’s always more fun when it’s beautiful [the football]. In addition, at Arsenal, there is a coach and French players. And Thomas Vermaelen,”

Hazard confessed to Sport Foot Magazine.

“There are several clubs that interest me in England and Arsenal is really a part. That’s the championship where I think I can express myself better. Where I can learn more, too…”

Arsenal and indeed Chelsea were relentlessly linked with this Adel Taarabt 2.1 for the bulk of last year. Chelsea saying that they had scouted him 20 times. 20 times! What were they waiting for, balloon animals, close up magic or his famous ‘Vera Lynn’ impression?

No, I think Chelsea’s sluggishness was to do with Mata being a superior bet and the lurking specter of the Financial Fair Play regs.

With Arsenal the problem is twofold of course. Aunty Wenger doesn’t like spending Christmas so how quite how he’s going to be coerced into dropping €30m is anyone’s guess.

If this is anything to those of you joining us grown ups late in the game, it’s a gentle introduction to the world of light whoring  that is modern football.

dont usually gloat at the misfortunes of others but the arse do make it enjoyable with their epic fail syndrome.I mean they are always talking about us ala welsher and wojnikiki szresniskipopov, the the manager chimes in and says we dont think about Tottenham and then goes and watches a dvd of how to win at the san siro by Tottenham.wojniski srezneszinski might as well go to highbury corner or kilburn high road and wait for a builders truck with his mates at six in the morning. :freu                                                     recurring

I see Redknapp wants to have his cake and eat it. Trying to hedge his bets with both jobs, i.e. if England flop massively at the Euros, he’ll just walk back into the job at Spurs. Or, on the other hand, if he has a modicum of success, he’ll tell all and sundry how he can’t let the country down, and that he’ll stay on as the nation’s saviour, leaving us managerless. Levy will see through that though.

The AEG takeover is interesting, but no doubt we’ll have the pseudomasters of the universe boring us all with the ins and outs of it all.

Yeah, he wants to have his cake and eat it, too. Who doesn’t? I know you have a genetically coded distaste for anything Aitch coming out of , but what’s wrong woth his latest statement? He’s said all along that he’d love to manage England. He has also said that he enjoys managing Spurs, and is proud of the progress made during his tenure. He’s just repeated that, and pointed out that it would be possible for him to take charge of the Euros without quitting Spurs in the middle of this season. Which, as it turns out, is true.

      • LosLorenzo says:

        HAH!

*distaste for anything coming out of Aitch’s mouth

From Redknapp’s point of view, which when talking about loyalty, is of one lower than a sewer rat’s, there’s nothing wrong with it at all. He’s illiterate, but he’s by no means stupid (just don’t call him a “wheeler dealer”).

As the England gig appears to be now appointed by the press, a half decent set of results, along with a load of sound bites and plenty of column inches (no problems with the last two) will all but ensure the clamour for him to remain in the job reaches fever pitch, and run roughshod over everything else (Spurs wanting their manager back).

Levy needs to make it clear, take on the Euros, and we take on a new manager.

The press are a nasty bunch. And I guess the man himself hasn’t always been loyal to his teams’ fan.

If he does take the Euros, and England crash out in the group stage, I’m not surethe press will be calling for him to stay on. They love their ‘Arry soundbites, but they love a public lynching even more.

Personally, I think the most important thing for us is to keep Harry for the rest of the season (I really don’t think now is the right time to be changing things up). Then we need to know, no later that mid/end of May, whether he will be with us next season.

I don’t see anything wrong with him taking charge of the Euros per se. But if he does, we need to know 100% if we can count on him coming back. If he insists on keeping the door open for a longer engagement, then bye-bye. If he’s willing to commit (we’d need an iron clad contract with STRONG disincentives to breach) to only gettting a small taste of managing England and then coming back full time next season, I’d bve fine with that.

I agree with Harry. It would be possible for him to just take charge of the Euros and be Spurs manager. Any more than just the Euros (or even just the possibility of more), and it’s a no-go for us.

I trust that Levy sees this as well. The way we’re looking I don’t think it would be too hard for us to find a worthy replacement should we need to. I would also be more than happy to keep on going with Harry in ’12/’13. We just need to avoid uncertainty at all costs.

        • TMWNN says:

Agree with all that. Yes, QFs would be a minimum requirement, even for their boy.

I can’t see the FA wanting to go through it all again after the Euros; the 2014 qualifiers start in September, and they’re probably putting a full-time package together for Redknapp as we speak. The sooner, the better.

Harry helps Spurs win the double, playing fantastic football, the most talked about team in Europe. We would still have the same miserable twats knocking him for not winning the league cup, or not winning every match 5-0.

When I tell my mates that there are still supporters who give Redknapp stick at every opportunity, they think I am joking.

Be very careful for what you wish for.
