Hazard To Sign For Spurs. Or Barca. Or Real Madrid. Or Someone. Probably.

I don’t know what you’d call this …an exercise in gun jumping or simply endemic of a football transfer rumour market that flat-lined a fortnight ago… but the call I suggest you resist making is to your lover asking for a Tottenham shirt with Hazard on the back for a Valentine’s gift.

Look, the good news is he was asked about us and he didn’t have to suppress giggles. My French is on a par with my English, but even I got that he was flattering about us. Acknowledged we had a great win on Saturday before an enthusiastic crowd, we’ve a decent squad that sort of thing…we’re on the up and up .

“Maybe it will be Tottenham. This is a big English club. I said I will go to England and there are very good players.

I have not signed anything yet. It will happen soon…

Spain is perhaps more my style of play but it must be either Barcelona or Real Madrid. It is therefore limited.”

There is a gulf here between this faint praise and him replying, ‘naturalmente’ when the Burger Man in Paxton Road yells at him, ‘You want onions, Colonel?’

The other issue is of course is that the boy ain’t going nowhere for free. Arsenal were linked with him on an almost weekly basis for the whole of last summer and as you can imagine, the rumoured buy out clause of €30m did nothing to speed up that deal.

My suspicion is that he’s simply engineering a move after neither Cheatski or the lot from Woolwich anything much more than make equiries..

He’s undoubtedly perceived at least as a top, top player™.  So whilst it’s not a deal anywhere near as is being suggested/hinted at by some, it does rather reflect we’re almost a big deal these days.

The story I’ve heard is that Levy and Harry have played a blinder and have convinced him to join Spurs and that personal terms have been agreed during the last TW. All that is left is to agree a fee with Lille, but the agent is a bit of a funny bugger and the goal posts regarding a fee keep changing (again, similar scenario to Leandro, but in his case it is Inter that keep upping the fee).

This was from a reputable source on SC who called the last few days of the TW perfectly. Should imagine that most will know who I mean. The caveat was that, like all transfer negotiations, the wheels could fall off. One of the last things he mentioned was that there would be some sort of announcement towards the end of Feb, which is sort of consistent with Hazards interview i.e he’d signed nothing yet, but hoped to soon

The way I look at it, however, if there is truth in what I’ve heard, whether we sign him or not means our prospect as a desirable team to play for is on the up.

Give us the source name and I’ll go check it out… Seems to me ITK only exaggerates what’s appearing as rumours on Newsnow, no-one I read said Saha or nelson until the names started appearing elsewhere.

I hope I’m wrong and there’s some legs to the Hazard news, I’ll be happy to apologise… but otherwise…

We would do better in Spending £24m on Llorente, after the Euros his stock will rise to an unaffordable level. With the almost certain loss of Ade, a striker is paramount. Hazard is just gesticulating, these guys measure their worth in column inches.

I would Hazard a guess ( God I’m so with it ) that he might be using us as a launch pad for Barca or Real to get their fingers out and make a move. Back in the day when we were a the best mid table team in the world, this might have also been the case…..my concern would be his value. Would we be able to pay £30 Mil + top wages…thats when my semi subsides :-)

I’m not reading anything into this or any other transfers until we get our new manager on board as I’m sure he will have his own ideas as to who we replace Adebayor with…….

Spot on, if we need to get a new manager that is ;-)

I’ve a scenario for you (a bit far fetched). DL getting the players that HR has asked for, for him to stay. He is in a bargaining position after all. :shifty:

      • Hartley says:

Oh I do hope not otherwise we can look forward to seeing, Fwank, Scholesy, Joke Hole, 3MP again, the dog Terry, Stevie Gerrard and Beckham next season…..we would be like a really shit football version of the Harlem Globetrotters…… :dizzy2:

My thoughts are not a million miles away from that scenario. Firstly, IF,Harry was going to broker a better deal and conditions with us, now would be the time-right? We all know he doesn’t have autonomy regarding transfers-and ‘what if’ he does?. Given his previous buys and subsequent failures-Crouch-Palacios-Bassong, would we actually want that?whereas continuation of the current policy serves the club better as it’s proved since Levy’s been doing the business. We’d definately have Joke Hole, and James, perhaps even Crouch still clogging up the works-mere speculation but a thought nevertheless?

If there are some legs to this story beyond a player engineering a move anywhere, perhaps this is part of a plan by Levy to convince Redknapp to stay?
