THFC Getting Into Bed With AEG : Will Levy Be Tucking Them In?

Good morning.

Four hundred and fifty million quid is the figure being bandied about. Philip Anschutz of AEG it is suggested is prepared to buy the controlling stake in Spurs. From The Express.

Nigh on twice the figure of the Liverpool sale. But aside from being at least twice the club, Tottenham come to market in rather good fiscal shape and not on their bindipping knees.

Why would this happen? Well we can only guess really. ENIC are perhaps reaching a crossroads whereby their investment is coming to the end of one chapter and about to commence upon another. They are after all an investment company and if they don’t trade now,  attempting to do so later one might argue would at best cause confusion. At worst look like they were bailing, no matter what the books said.

Anschutz’s form in the field is nothing shy of excellent of course. Not just a leading light but a driving force behind the MLS this is a guy who appears to have combined business acumen with a legitimate passion for the game. AEG owns LA Galaxy and Houston Dynamo. The potential synergies between AEG and THFC are pretty breathtaking. AEG’s wiki page.

What mustn’t be negotiable in any of this is the retention of Levy & Co. If AEG wanted to buy in talent and experience for the road ahead it’s inconceivable to suggest a better candidate.

Football clubs are generally run by a selection of idiots that nearly defy description. Bent second hand car salesmen, white slave traders, costamongers, devil worshipers and money launderers.

sounds expensive doesn’t it,but what do i know, also seems like a good time to sell for lewis if thats what he is all about

i’m jsut hoping we can grab the european cup before those russians and goons do,now that would be some good stuff

I wonder what team Harry will put out. Maybe all the English lads just to get into the swing of it.

i wonder too,is anyone coming back to fitness,i’m not sure, probably be a strong team though,if i know harry at all

all the talk will be about england though,i listened to radio 5 on monday and when they got to spurs it was all about england, nothing abotu our 5-0 thumping, infact i haven’t heard anyone talk about our geordie bashing.

still harry can do what he wants as far as i’m concerned he has earnt it,as a manager you earn your next season,i mean he has already earnt 2012/13 barring a catastophe, redknapp has a really big decsion to make,i know most around here hate on england but who wouldn’t want an office at wembley,i know i would, but having a serious crack at the english title and european cup is just as enticing,as ever life is about timing,i bet harry never thought he would get this high in football, good on him

It’s not just that office at Wembley. It’s the flying and limousine riding to up scale stadiums [the latin in me wants to write stadia], the tasty aperitifs/cocktails before, the comfy directors’ suites during, and the the vino and foie gras after games. It’s the international travel, top class naturally…

Or am I in Pinocchio land?

A real crack at the title if we dont win it this year and a go at the champs next season.
On the other hand leading England out in Brazil is a good way to end your football career.
praps he thinks give it a part time go now for euros,if that works well take the next season with Spurs and part Time England until just before the world cup is in place leave us and be full time for England for the actual world cup. Nice work if you can get it.

        • kojac says:

yachtsman,i’d say it would have some good perks, either way he wil have to make a decison, levy won’t have time for a part timer and neither would i

@mel,i can think of worse things than taking england to brasil for a world cup but maybe i’m old fashioned,i don’t see where the negative is in that, only a complete lunatic would think we’d win in brasil :dizzy2:

Reckon we will put out a full strength team Sunday, it is a risk regarding picking up injuries with several massive league games coming up but we are probably the best side left in the cup now so why not go for it.
Gallas is supposed to be nearing fitness, VDV and Sandro struggling and out for a couple of weeks apparently.

i have worked in multiple capacities with various anschutz owned entities, AND i’ve been a season ticket holder of the galaxy on and off for 15 years.

there’s good and bad news here (though from my sources at AEG this is not happening any time soon): good: tim lieweke knows what the fuck he is doing. he’s really good and runs multiple sports teams and facilities brilliantly.

the bad: philip anschutz is a fully committed dominianist christian of the most terrifying american sort. a real american taliban-ist. i can’t describe what damage his billions have done when applied to politics–this would probably put us on a certain level behind chelsea on the “we are owned by evil” scale (though i’m not clear that joe lewis made his money by buying cute puppies and making them eat kibble either).

anyway, like i said, i’ve heard this is B.S., and on some levels we could do better (oil money? blood money? blood money boiled in oil, tortured, then collaterialzied by Goldman Sachs, resold to a pension fund, which itself is then stripped so that we can get a really good center back? ).

    rich people. jesus.

The further away the Americans are kept from our game the better. One reason it is “the world game” is that its not been bought up and fucked up by the US of fucking A; like most all else on the planet!

Four halves? Bigger goals? No Draws (might support that one if she’s cute).

You’d get your video technology then: 90 minutes stretching over 2 hours to accommodate the ads every time a throw was disputed and had to go to the video referee.

Keep them away, keep their hands off it, don’t let them get close enough to touch it!

The last post was a reply to PeterTheStoreyTeller :winke:

@Finn- Agree 100% (there’s a shock!!!) You left out the blindingly obvious though……..when they don’t get their way they bomb the sh*t out of you, after trying to starve you into submission via sanctions, fuck em……..fuck em all :ninja:
