Gently Oozing With Pride

Good afternoon.

A gutsy well earned point against the usual vexations of  Secondhand Fridge. Some crummy refereeing and a conveyor belt of petty cheating from a team so screwed up they believe they can manage themselves.

The only criticism was the absence of one touch passing. Our average was three and that buys the other lot time. The midfield was massively congested and neither side seemed capable of challenging that.

Bale was vastly improved. So was Walker and had Adebayor not spent the entire game fighting for every ball I doubt we’d have taken a point. He was less successful attacking but hey. Them’s the breaks.

It was a classic Mourinho- esque Cheatski performance and I’m telling you now that a Martin Jol side would have buckled. Crucially Arry’s mob did not and that was the difference out there. Chelsea lacked the killer edge today. From front to back we blunted the knives of  a still very, very dangerous side.

Was it two points dropped because we missed a few gilt edge chances? No. Our recent bad run has generated dozens of reasons to get heated and today we showed what a politician would call some genuine green shoots of recovery.

Player ratings in the morning. To our lot this afternoon I say in the softly spoken words of the young Mr Grace, ‘You’ve all done awfully well.’

Bale gets so much stick on this site yet he is the one we rely on so much for our attacking spark.
He was head and shoulders better than anyone against Stoke and rescued us a point and again versus Chelsea we were pedestrian until he got the ball.
Modders was desperate again …. he never produces when we need him against the top teams.
Parker surely has to provide SOME attacking input instead of constantly running up his own backside.
Kranjcar would do a decent job at a mid table club…. i know he didn’t play!
Sandro has lost a yard of pace since his injury … he was twice the player last season.
V.D.V unless he is scoring is a luxury ,… Darren Bents mum would have scored that sitter yesterday.
Ade worked his socks off again … its only his finishing letting him down but he links everything up.
We need Lennon and Hud (even as a cameo) to be at our best.
Overall it was a poor game lacking in quality ….. 3rd seems like a long forgotten dream.
    But I’m a dreamer.
    COYS!

COYG like me has heard it all before. For decades Spurs supporters saying `I think we`ll do it` – then, `we can still do it`. I remember spurs players being wheeled out annually at Christmas to say `we can still win the league`. That said, your boys deserved to win the game. Also, why doesn`t `Arry like Defoe?

we should have won. we were by far the better team in the second half and should be disappointed with a draw. we dropped two points by not taking chances, once again we’ve failed to beat one of the top teams. I for one, am not ‘gently oozing with pride’. I was bloody pissed off after the match.
