Levy & Co. Leave Arry Out Of The Loop

Good morning fight fans.

Fascinating development in the Jan Vertonghen mini saga as the player has let slip that it’s Spurs that are closest to landing him.

What’s fascinating is that it’s now clear that Arry is not involved in the deal. Only a day or two ago our tight lipped supremo said,

“He is a good player, a player I have looked at and watched, I think there are a lot of clubs interested in him though. So, that is all.

“We haven’t gone anywhere with it. We haven’t spoken to the club. He is just a player I have watched, along with a lot of other players.”

But now Jan himself has said,

“Of course I want Ajax to become financially better, but the amount Tottenham are willing to pay, maybe with a little bit extra, is very reasonable.

“In a year from now I could leave the club for free. I hope Ajax are aware of it as the situation of Maarten Stekelenburg’s transfer was very harsh.

He only arrived at the end of pre-season at AS Roma. I want to flow in fluently, directly with the other Spurs players.

“Tottenham is a fantastic traditional club who play football in a way I like. Ajax was the perfect club for me, but Spurs will be very close in nearing that already. They buy young, eager and offensive-minded players.”

I’ve been banging the ‘buy a centre back drum’ for some time. This guy would be absolutely perfect and we need to cough up and sign him. Signing Vertonghen would demonstrate to the likes of Modric that we meant business.

Let’s hope Levy & Co. can pull it off!

After having slated him for months for only ever talking bollocks, how do you suddenly conclude that ‘Arry’s out of the loop absed on this quote, HH? Seems just as likely that Levy told him (or through some miracle he decided of his own volition) not to say anything about the dealings in this transfer. If that were the case, Aitch’s quote is exactly what you’d expect when a journo asked him point blank about Jan Vertonghen.

he’s simply not trusted with the clubs money as they know exactly what he is and have done from the outset…..a complete idiot who cannot read, write, add up, take away or even tie his own shoe laces…..probably.

Village idiot springs to mind. Sandra doesn’t even trust him with the shopping, because everything he brings home is old, out of date and useless to other (clubs/people)

Levy is a businessman responsible for a multi-million pound organization. You think someone in his position would let someone else manage the finances? Someone who has spent all their life chasing balls in a field? Some of you are in fields, if you think managers have anything to do with contracts. Look at the growth of agents. We talking amounts that comprehensive types like us are not used to, and can’t properly comprehend. The days of a manager contributing to whether Greavsie is worth a fiver a goal bonus or not are over. League 1 clubs, maybe… Premier League clubs? No way. Redknapp never had sod all to do with the money here. And if he contributed elsewhere you need to look at the board, not some ole cockney who may have spouted some unreachable targets to a group of financiers.

The most important thing is that we sign a Centre Back at the earliest opportunity.

Failure to do this will leave the door for Ledley and Co to inspire another make do and mend season. We cannot do this if we are going to be serious at the business end of the season.

As a player, I am in awe of Ledley King – but both parties have to be brave and hang the boots up. We cannot all be in it together if we know before the start that the defence will to crocked to make a full season. That applies to the others too.

We are are club that pay full season wages for half season appearances for our defenders. Unchanged winning line ups – build confidence and instill fear in our opponents.

Let’s just get on with it.

If we’re playing 2 games pw [and we should be whatever happens], we’ll do well to keep King. Look at his condition. Whend he last have a bad game? Even Parker had a bad game. Shameful.
