What Matters Most?

Knee deep in the Euros and quite frankly …enjoying it.

I was chatting to a fellow Tottingham pal of mine late last night and we both arrived at the same conclusion. What really matters the most about this tournament is Scott Parker.

Parker is quite possibly the key to next season. If we ride our luck, then the season after that too. When he was on our radar I was as guilty as anyone wondering why one earth we were even considering him. After only a few appearances I was wondering where he’d been all my life.

The answer is he’d been kidnapped by modern football. But you have to take the Eurythmics line here. It’s alright – baby’s coming back and I don’t really care where he’s been.

Goals win games, yeah yeah, we know all that. But Goals at The Lane have come from all over the park while we sat about about waiting for us to hoodwink some 30+ goals a season merchant into signing.

The goals trickled in and mounted up, as our defence feel to bits. Again. Can you see where I’m going here?

Scotty Parker has been by a country mile the most influential player in the Lilywhite in recent times. Those of you who cook will know that it’s the eggs that bind. And Scott Parker was the nucleus of our our consistency. That thing we’d been missing arrived and was a perfect fit.

His derring do performances for us have made him an obvious pick for Uncle Roy. England’s performances have been, so far anyway pretty accomplished. International tournaments have rarely been something I could get my teeth into as a Spurs fan but Parker has had me settled in early for all his games.

At 131 years of age we are of course witnessing the ‘autumn’ of his career, but what matters most is… it is with us.

Now, my friends at Samsung also want to know what matters most to you about football.

He’s up there with Freund and Nielsen for me. Just a lot better.

Agree with others – Sandro is a far superior player than Parker.Which isn’t to say Parker doesn’t do a good job, just that Sandro can do the same job, plus is far more athletic, taller, stronger and can actually run up and down the pitch without having to rest halfway.

So Harry’s insistance on Parker was shrewd was it!
Is the beginning of you turning on AVB? My God you are fickle.
From what I remember you were very critical of him chasing Parker and now hes the lynchpin?

    • Harry Hotspur says:

Have you been in solitary confinement for the season?
      No. You’ve posted on here.

So what is so difficult for you to understand?
I didn’t think he was a good buy when we bought him. This is well documented.
As was my u-turn shortly after watching him play for us.

I have to ask are you ten years old?
Am I not allowed to change my mind based upon evidence?
Do I lose points for that?

You made some pretty stupid/aggressive comments while Arry was being binned which along with the piece of junk I’m flattering you by responding to marks you either as a relative of his or someone who over invested emotionally in a spiv.

      • Dessyspur says:

No Harry I just read the gamedifferently to you and try and stay behind the team/coach/club etc.
Sorry just got back home thanks for the response I guess thats the closest you will ever get to admitting you were wrong.
U turn? more like complete change of direction.
Yes I am 10 years old but that aint saying much for you ya freaking imbecile
While we are at it I fely Harry fell short for us but found your personal attacks on him a little hard to accept.
Also last time I checked it was a free world that allows me to express my opinion, now go away or I will taunt you some more

      linchpin

Parker certainly adds a “steely attitude ” to our defensive play and breaks up the opposition movement around our own box.. however his ‘creative’ input is next to nothing and this constant tippy tappy sideways and backward passing all the time slows our momentum. I think Sandro has the makings of a great player for us but he needs to feel he is the first choice and be given the heads up by the new manager then we may see him blossom even further. If Modric leaves and AVB is appointed manager then Mourtinho would be a great replacement and AVB knows the player so that might be a plus in getting him..

  • WhiteYidLane says:

Parker was a Redknapp signing .. The Sandro and Parker issue bothers me a bit .. I think Sandro has the potential to be one of best around …But Parker is a great player also, .I rate Sandro big time though and prefer him to Parker if i had to pick,, both games v Millan he was truly ouitstanding ..One of the best displays from a holding midfielder iv’e seen .. Then Redknapp drops him ??.And on top of dropping him and leaving him out over n over, he goes and buys Parker! .. Talk about shattering a young lads confidence,, And we needed a CF and CB NOT more midfielders like Parker ..Yet that is all we kept getting from the clueless Redknapp!!”

    • Mattspurs says:

I agree but Sandro was injured for the first three months of last season so it’s a good job we had Parker. A full season of Sandro will be amazing

    • cyril says:

ac milan have tried to buysandro, not parker. they saw what he did in the san siro, had more influence on a game that we are used to seeing from a spurs defensive player
shd be first choice every week. a beast
