André Villas-Boas Doubles The Lad’s Training

Good evening.

I saw this on Spurs Community and thought it well worth sharing given the dichotomy shall we call it on here given the last bloke in charge.

On area that was questioned under the last regime was training.

Insinnuendos in relation to training and tactics dogged Arry’s tenure. It was rumoured that the wipe board was never used and that he picked a first eleven, got ’em to run about a bit and then it was time for him to lean out his car window and address the world’s media. The rest of the players were the left overs and they were left in the cold.

I think we all recall Krankie coming on that time after we hadn’t seem him for a dogs age and the bloke sweated up like a racehorse after only ten minutes. Shocking.

André Villas Boas strikes me as bloke who has a spreadsheet for most things in his life including his pyjamas.

He’s got them at it, according to Matspur17…

First bit of ITK not very exciting but avb definitely isn’t messing around.

My friend plays a bit of tennis with David Bentley, at times.

He said for their preseason they do two footy sessions 9-12am and 5-8pm and fitness 1.30-3pm.

With Harry they only trained 9-12am even for preseason! (might explain how unfit we looked at beginning of season). He does have Banter though!

Everyone has been given a fresh start a few guys you thought would leave might stay now.

Luka however is not one of those.

Good.

Hope this is true. Just what they should be doing. Watch the boys fly out the traps up at newcastle

Just said to Mde de… Gyms are busy with people after work. Office types, all that jazz.

Why in the name of Barry Manilow wouldn’t someone who’s a professional athlete be doing twice an office worker’s session plus?

      • Chris says:

I get it when I get called crazy, but I’m an office worker who also plays footy and does triathlons… I train on average at least 3 hours a day 7 days a week. I’m 34 years old, I have a 16month old son and I’m married. If I can do this sort of work, surely these boys who earn my annual salary (and then some) in just one week can do it too!
I’d do it for bloody free if we were just set up for lodgings and food for the family!
Modders – bite any hand off thats offering 30mil.
Berba – wish he stayed. Despite my special Brown European adventure jersey from a few years back bearing his name still being in good nick, I cant be bothered having him back… he does score though doesnt he…

It is NOT being that fit at 34 that counts.
It is being STILL able to do it at 80 that counts.

Those who are superfit before their 40s and become slobs in their 50s/60s will die much more quickly than thoswe who have been slobs all of their life.(look at the footballers)
By committing to so much fitness you are making a pact with your health, I jogged until 35 then realised that almost no one can do it at 80. So i took up bushwalking(carrying a 35kg pack in the mountain wildnerness for 3 weeks. That kept me fit for a year wih only the occasional local long weekend repeat. You MUST pick something that you can do at 80 and believe me it becomes VERY hard to get off yr backside at 70. But I still can manage a 30kg hourly packwalk every 4 days and 8 weekends per year carrying same.
Advice ? Up to you. BUt try jogging when you are 70…it is possible but it will damn near kill you …too high presssure while walking is much more slow and less cardiac damaging.
How do i know this? Wok it out yrself.

while I’m cooking… professional footballers should be able to kick equally well with both feet!… noe of this “its on his wrong foot” rubbish. If you get paid 70k a week, bloody well learn how to kick with the other foot :)

ha ha, I can’t even thin about Berba. Steptoe and Son – they were great…

  • IOD Spurs says:

3 sessions a day! Carries on like that and they will resemble a professional football ream

I assume that if AVB is prepared to give Bentley and others a second chance, then the readership of this site will do so too? We’ll be supporting his decisions on players no matter what they be won’t we?

    • Harry Hotspur says:

I’m backing AVB all the way to the Hilton. People are always allowed their opinion of course.

I think the exit of Arry did make this place seem ‘Angry Mob Central’ for a while.

But then the majority were indeed angry. Most are decent types. Fair minded. Certifiable people with fair minds. That’s the demographic.

      • Mark T says:

That’s good to hear because I still have hope that David Bentley has it in him to be an excellent player. For me, the most frustrating thing about HR was the wasted talent. I think he stumbled on Bale’s genius and wasted Bentley, Gio, Krankie and that little shitbag that went to QPR. It’d be good to have a manager who can bring out the best in our talented mavericks.

        • Mark I agree with Harry stumbling on Bale. But with Bentley the man has a great right cross. As good as anyones.
There are two problems.Still we have no one to head them in and also Bentley is immature and not so bright. Hopefully he is off of his ego trip now and into working hard and taking himself seriously.
          Not sure he can though.
If he can and big man including a Carroll would benefit and Spurs would benefit with a combo like that.

        • Chris says:

I actually thought Carroll would have been a good fit for Spurs under Redknapp… until Bale started forgetting the role that had him marked up there with the worlds best. Under AVB though… not sure… is anyone sure what we are going to look like in the new set up?
Im excited to see what we come up with in the next few weeks. One thing is certain… we need strikers. We have Defoe and it appears Ade is signing on… we cant play on 2 though so this ensures at least one more peice of cattle is on the way. I’d take Carroll… but only if he fits the AVB puzzle. Bentley.. maybe has something still to give? Not the fastest player on the planet but does have the reputation for a great cross and free kick. Id like to see him finally grow up and realise he’s 27 now and its time to put in… not 23 or 23 like he was when he fist came over. Gio… tastey. Give the lad a chance! Scores for fun with Mexico.

  • Spurs tough says:

Bullsheet! That would mean they’re at for a full working day, seven and a half hours (okay almost a full working day!). That’s gotta be crap, When are they gonna play golf!?

    • Harry Hotspur says:

It stinks of bull sheet to me too mate. Angry Birds? When are they supposed to high score, when they’re injured?!

      • AlphaT says:

I think he runs the sessions to accommodate having such a large squad it is better to mix it up a bit rotating say 3 groups of players seeing what talent will gel and what ones to avoid due to clash of style or a formation that doesn’t facilitate

    • Under Harry the players on the bench were so excited of getting a chance to play occasionally they were thinking of Augusta
