I’ve Lost All Faith

Good evening.

I have no faith.I might have thought I had when I was a child. But it’s gone.

Kishna, born 1000 yrs BC, son of a carpenter, was baptised in river. Mithra, born 600 BC curiously enough on December 25th, performed miracles, was resurrected on the 3rd day. He was known as The Lamb, The Way, The Truth, The LIght The Saviour, The Messiah.

The big hitter though has to be the ‘rather popular’ Egyptian god Horus who in 1280 BC was known the son of Osiris. He was also born to a virgin, baptised in a river by a bloke who later had his head chopped off. Horus did a stint of desert business, getting tempted, all that jazz.

He was an absolute whizz at healing the sick, blind and cast out demons like it was going out of fashion. When he wasn’t recorded as having walked upon …water. Pity none odf his descendants were involved at the Sunderland game today, eh? Horus also raised a guy called ‘Asar’ from the dead. The translation of this name is ‘Lazarus’. Horus had 12 (count ’em) disciples, was crucified, then was discovered by 2 (count ’em) ladies who declared him ‘risen’.

That said, faith isn’t for schmucks.  If something gives you comfort. I’ll be the very last to suggest you’re a fool. It’s vital part of the way humans go about their business.

But all I ask of people is don’t try and pass it off  faith as being either truthful or …factual. It isn’t an imaginary friend tending to the sick, it’s scientists and doctors. And if my own Living Will is executed to the very letter, coked up Vegas showgirls.

Spurs fans carping about André Villas Boas after 2 games need to jack it in and find themselves a new god. Because dealing with reality is clearly too much for them to cope with.

Do you know the last time I watched a game close to where we passed so deftly, tackled with such spirit? It was the UEFA Cup Final against Anderlecht.

I was genuinely proud of us today. The best analysis you will ever read and player ratings for you in the morning.

Of course it was heartbreaking to watch them equalise, but I have absolute faith in intelligence, wit and guile. The boss is building something rather special here. The result today hurt, but I’m still so excited about this season.

So in my headline I lied.

Confused, upset?

Oh you must be new…

I have given up all hope & not because of AVB.
Sick of every year leaving our transfer business so late it ends up with us starting seasons dire (Harry lovers this happened under him too)
Look at Chavski? Sorted all there business and close to 3wins out of 3.
West Brom even this early in the season was a must win.
Levy is the most overrated Chairman in football.
Give me a Sugar Daddy anyday because with the way we are run currently i can never see us winning the league something i have wanted to see my entire life and will probably never get to see as we are being left behind.

I agree Ric, ( 1 League cup in 11 years Levy ) is a chairman who will never win the league. Like you i have been waiting all my life but every year he gives every top team a head start trying to save a few quid.
Feels sad that we are out of contention this season, and he has twats believing he is a hero going for fourth place.
We are Tottenham Hotspur,we are a big big club, we should be going for the title.

So please please Dan, Put up or fk off.

      .
Ah, Ric, a perfect example, I think, of a proper delusion.

Whether you care to judge our last league finish against our position 5, 10, 15 or 20 years ago, I can’t for the life of me see how you could adjudge us as being “left behind”. Just doesn’t make sense, does it?

“Give me a sugar daddy anytime”? Oh dear oh dear Ric, it’s not difficult to see what sort of woman you’d have made.

      You’re not a woman right?

      • Michelle says:

That my dear is because you are, unlike some of us, NOT used to always being in the top three, relegation apart.
I was around for 2 18ths IIRC before the 60s, early 70s then the 80s gave me the delusion that we were a top three club and now i see ***t like Chelsea our feeder club and MC scooting past not to mention the unmentionables.
If you think that is progress under levy then some of us DO NOT.

        • DaveK says:

          I agree Michelle.

I also saw the great double team performing…pur magic, but it was team built not by buying one superstar every 5 years but by buying a collection of great (largely) unknown players and blending them with lesser, but solid performers, and letting them play.

That is what a good manager and a scouting system can do when backed by an ambitious Board.

One League Cup in 11 years is Levy’s record, plus 6 managers. Levy is the only constant.

    • Mal says:

Amen to that but AVB is also part of the problem. Not the solution.I reckon he’s ,more than likely beginning to lose the dressing room.Body language tells me alot. A number of players don'[t want to play for this guy.I can see it.I can tell in the same way that from day one of HArry taking charge ,I saw the boys on that pitch with a different attitude.I’m not saying Harry was or is the answer.Only that Villas Boas isn’t.

  • david says:

Trouble is, HR mates in the press cannot wait for AVB to fail and we all saw under Ramos how quickly the players can lose confidence in a manager and how the results can suffer as a result.

    • Habib says:

My worry as well. Media’s trumpeting of failure can quickly become a self fulfilling prophecy. Seen it in business. Seen it in sports.

      • Carlos says:

Forget media, results count. Levy needs to support him. HR like him or not, got results. Yes 4,5,4th was progress.

  • Dublin Yid says:

2nd. Well said HH. I concur totally the signs are good. It will fall nicely into place. Baggies are no pushovers like I stared pre match. They will have an excellent pre Xmas and will beat the to tier no doubt. But chances not taken again calls for reinforcements.

    • Harry Hotspur says:

‘Tis not just your faith that’s blind. It’s why you have those glasses on. Trying to save face, more like. Praying to God you don’t have to back-track, more like. I for one hope you don’t have to… We have, after all, started slightly better than last season. I’ll reserve judgement for now, though I’m certainly not impressed with the substitutions. Sandro off? What’s the fuss with Livermore? Sure, all players need games but Totts not the place to learn the square one. Walker, Bale, Lennon, all great when they came in, from the off. Jake, I don’t see it. And Defoe scored again which makes him difficult to drop.

        • mattspurs says:

defoe didnt score mate, ade werent match fit not avbs fault our first half performance looked good but we need ade and another striker who can hold ball up we would have created better and more chances if we had this it aint defoes fault but when we play him up top on his own he wont create chances for others he will score goals though i remember when harry first came every time he played defoe and keane together we had the same problem no out ball when under pressure and usually lost we are missing a couple of players but i believe we will get a couple this week i know modric is off but the difference a fit ade and modric would have made im sure would have been 3 points ade will be ready next week and if we get a creative midfielder in then things will be looking good avb has had 2 games without a finished squad give the bloke a chance

        • jerkinmahjurgen says:

Well spotted. My mistake. Only he kind of did… I’m giving the bloke a chance. Sitting on the fence. Can’t tell nowt after 2 games. Even the eventual winners will get 1pt from 6 at some point in the season.
