Hurrah! We’ve Signed Willian. Probably.

Good afternoon ladies.

A journalist for Russia Today a Mr Aleksey Yaroshevsky told talkSPORT earlier that he understands from his Ukrainian sources that we have agreed a deal with Shaktar Donetsk for the services of Willian.

Whilst certain sectors of the media were quick to run with the old, ‘rejected bid’ spiel this may well prove yet again to be a case journos simply making stuff to fill column inches.

Is he worth £20m? At this stage my immediate response has to be who cares. A long term target of the boss. Get the boy in.

I see that quotes accredited to me appear on a another Spurs blog. To say these quotes have been doctored would be flattering. Then if my blog was 30,000 places behind his [according to Alexa.com] and if I was an insecure bed-wetter then maybe I’d behave like that. On an upbeat note I got the emails in earlier today confirming that the same gang of illiterate hyenas are now being pursued by various bodies for both content violations and abuse of usage terms.

Lots of ways to skin a cat especially a stupid one. My preferred method is always with an unfeasibly sharp knife.

I would like m’villa but I reckon he will end up playing for the scum in all honesty

Shame it looks like Moutinho isn’t an option, just get the feeling he would have been the one to slot straight in with very little bedding in time (connection with AVB, very experienced player) – these other targets seem a lot more in the ‘lucky roll of the dice bracket’ and we could be seeing us resurrect our transfer tactic of the BMJ era of bulk buying mid level targets and playing the percentages, seeing who sinks and who swims

M’villa is one i don’t really get, surely we have enough cover in the defensive midfield position with scotty, sandro and livermore. As a creative midfielder is the far liklier, i’m presuming that’s more media crap!

That reply was for Bog BTW. Pressed wrong button. :dizzy2:

Well an interesting point is where would Modric have played under AVB? Which position are we covering? Was he going to be the second less defensively minded deep lying midfielder or was he chalked in to play further forward as a link man, creative playmaker or even ‘in the hole’ right behind the front man? Are we looking for a disciplined but creative player who will hang back a bit or someone who’ll have a lot more freedom going forward? My head hurts

I didn’t know the mourtinho deal collapsed, when was this announced? There’s 3 days left, I still have hope. The thing is, the only player to replace modric is modric, hes pretty unique, and not many players are around like that, but if anyone could replace him it would be mourtinho. After the euros and his relationship with avb I can still see the deal going through….or rather wish. N,villa couldn’t replace him, nor could dembele, nor could willian and nor could the man u pair. If we don’t get mourtinho I will start to worry.

Why are we assuming AVB needs another Modric? Modric was the focal point of HR’s team, and surely a new manager would want to create a team in his own image, and not merely replicate another’s?

Willian would smash our transfer fee record so I don’t quite see how he would be considered a mid-level target!

      • spursgoliath says:

We have been priced out of Moutinho by all accounts so…mid-level compared to that I presume!

We haven’t spent in ages, anything will break our transfer record now – Dazza Bent is a £23 mill plus striker and Carroll is a £35 mill wonderkid don’ty you know?

    • RobCovSpur says:

Agreed. It’s a Modric replacement we need to make the team tick and although Moutinho may have eneded up costing £25 million he does seem to be the one who would fit the bill best and get the best out of the more forward line.

just my thoughts :O( sidestepping all the broody time!

    • ItalianSpur says:

Agree 100% .Moutinho and Damiao : two great players instead of the usual 4/5 middle of the road schlumps

      • ItalianSpur says:

Plus Moutinho is a Real LEADER, something spurs lack

      • Borris says:

these 2 were all i felt we needed back in may. bit pissed off about damioa. 3 windows now we have offered inter a pack of peans and a handjob for im while e keeps getting better and out of our reach. pretty pissed off. :(

        • Spurs4Life says:

i agree with Boris ,if we had got Damioa when we first showed interest we would be playing CL NOW.
And Modric may not of left. Lloris must be signed

  • hekko says:

So who are we looking at then?
    Lloris
    Willian
    Dembele

and then maybe if we are lucky.

    M’Vila
    Nani
    Damiao

    and if we are unlucky

    Anderson
    Sturidge

Please not top 4 rejects. Not so sure why a GK is required apart from the fact our is an OAP.

The we’ve ‘signed Benzema’ reared its head again HH? I have to say Ive seen him on youtube and was underwhelmed on a couple of vids but he looked good in Champions league (actual games) he’s been long linked with avb and he seems to have an eye for a brazillian (ooh er) he recommended lucas moura to abramovich last year apparently, so get him in good competition for azza blad and bale and vdv. Probably another partnership deal with Shakhtar, wonder how Bentley would like the Ukraine. Wilian, lloris will do for now but I’d still like a midfield creator a sort of quater back a thud on his day and another striker/target man, moutinho and llorente/Doumbia would do, time for my meds

A few reporting that Afellay will choose between us, the scousers and Schalke, It would fill me with great joy if he chose us. Would also appreciate a late push for Hulk or Falcao, although both unlikely :-(
