Maybe Willian But Certainly No Leandro Damiao

Good evening.

The boss gave a presser earlier in the day here are my thoughts upon it.

Everybody tells you that modern football is rubbish, I’d argue we’re making real progress – if only in the evolution of football speak or as my old man called it, ‘footballees.’ Where we were once told of endless poorly parrots, spoke to men who claimed to have orbited the earth’s moon and of course more recently survived The Day Of The Triffics, we are now living in an age where Michael Dawson is recognised as being ‘a player of an immensely human dimenson.’

And they are wasting all that money looking for life on Mars. I tell you this mush; we’ve got all you could ever want right here.

For all the grim emissions online today from the fretters and bed wetters, it puts things into perspective when your hear players spoken about so respectfully. Who knows, maybe this is what intelligent people do. You know, show some in the hope they receive some back.

Defoe is so obviously a man waiting to hear if he’s had a stay of execution. What does Villas-Boas say? He acknowledges his qualities and again says nothing that could be vaguely twisted to convey any devaluation in the eyes of the Club.

Modric is clearly still being held hostage in a dimly lit cellar at an undisclosed address in Enfield. That’s the spirit.

Willian is clearly being negotiated for. Is this guy all that? Well, interesting that the boss repeated the fact that he wanted him when he was managing Cheatski.

Leandro is a dead duck. Think rice pancakes. Think Hoi Sin sauce and finely cut scallions and cucumber. You’re thinking of what someone else is having for their dinner. Adebayor, you better have a belter, old girl.

Must admit i am curious to see how it all turns out! I still think we will sign another striker…but not Damiao. Lorente or maybe go back for Sturidge. Would love to see Willian happen also. Ah well…in the meantime will watch El Classico…

I wouldn’t be surprised if Sturridge was signed but I would think if we do sign a striker, it would be the sork of Edin Dzeko, Edison Cavanni, Demba Ba type who can play in the lone out-and-out striker role. Willian seems a possibility out of all teh possibilities, but somehow I would have rather seen Pjanic from Roma.

I think really though, it may end up being M’Vila, Willian/Pjanic or both and no striker, with Willian being used as a striker/attacking midfielder. If we don’t sign either Pjanic or Willian, for the love of the game, why can’t we see Gio dos Santos in an attacking midfield role???? I’m not a whole bunch convinced Willian is anywhere as good as Gio, yet we waste him away on the bench. 17 games since 2008, we treat the lad terribly, yet he’s better than both Javier Hernandez and Carlos Vela.

I’d take Dzeko and Sturridge to go alongside Adebayor and Defo. Enough cover and flexibility to change things up. Still eyes closed and mumbling to him upstairs for Damaio.

i’m watching it too. is it the same on your screen that they’ve moved the time/scorecard far too central and low. very distracting.

HH. Is there a way one may hear the news conference here in the US?

What snippets I have gleaned via Reuters, etc. increase my regard for AVB. What a contrast!

Modric is being held in a dungeon created my joeseph fritzl, william is house hunting in skegness and ian dowie is our new head chef, that is if you believe keith chegwin.

Josef Frazzle has Modric in a headlock in a wine cellar in Taps pub in Enfield Town. No word of a lie guv

  • Sid Trotter says:

Leandro is as elusive as me missus. Never a cat in hells chance despite our agreement with them. Will. I. An is a no goer too – cant see it alas.

Yeah, this whole agreement thing seems a bit rubbish. Whoever offers the most money wins, agreement or no agreement, seems pretty pointless to me. We get first refusal!
Levy: “Alright lads, we’ll give you £15 mil for Damiao”
Inter: “Piss off mate, your havin’ a laugh”
Levy: “Well thanks for allowing us the opportunity to be turned down first, really appreciate that”

      Pointless! :hae:

  • Yorkshire Yid says:

Typical Levy/ENIC brinkmanship all this. Only people it costs is us in lost points and an unsettled squad.

I have little faith we will do what is required as a minimum to support the manager but will, as a fan, live in hope that we change the habit of a recent lifetime.

Can’t believe we are not in for Moses. Relatively cheaply priced, great 18 months, no wage or CL issues, ‘proven’ and ‘British’ in the sense that no settling in period. Ridiculous.
