Was A New Spurs Striker In The Crowd At Watford?

Good morning?

If you were to take every collective drop of inner calm, tolerance and inner peace from Spurs fans at the moment you’d be lucky to fill an egg cup.

Here’s a snippet to encourage many to pick up that piece of breakfast crockery and hurl it into the middle of next week.  Spurs supporter @slkofficial has told me that Louis Saha was with the Tottenham playing contingent in the crowd at the Watford game …sporting a Spurs tracksuit.

This has to indicate that his relationship is more than a friendly face that just happened to be in the area and popped along to watch the boys.

I maintain I’m excited enough by the thought of goals coming from Gilly, Bale, vDV, Gio and Coulibaly all being played in an intelligent system by an intelligent manager, but my guess is I’m probably in a minority…

Ok, I’m ready to be shot down in flames, but I would like to see Gomes given a chance in this new high line formation, plus with Gomes and sandro on the pitch maybe, just maybe, a certain Brazilian striker may wish to join us?

I’d back a bring back Gomes suggestion. 100%. Anyone Arry didn’t like gets another go, that’s the way it ought to be.

        This should be fun ;-)

        • Harry Hotspur says:

Puts on grandads ARP hat and clambers down behind sofa.

        • essexian76 says:

Sharpens pen-eats copious amounts of raw lemon, awaits bile to rear it’s head..farts, burps…here it comes…………….GOMES!!!!!!!!, You gotta be fckin’ jokin’, we’ve a settled back line, no fannying or hysterical tantrums, no trainers coming on every two minutes, clear precise instruction from the keeper to the defence, calmness personified-and you want that clown reinstated.Noooooooo!

        • RobCovSpur says:

But this is supposed to be a team with a different formation playing higher up the field with fast defenders and midfield destroyers. Gomes with confidence could be great for us. Brad has been great but in a steadying influence way and is not the future as we all know. If we were to get a new keeper I wouldn’t be looking abroad it would have to be either Krul or Butland.

        • essexian76 says:

So let’s get in yet another coach (again) to work on Gomes or await his usual cock-ups to cost us, as he’s done so many times in the past-I just love it when even the opposition crowd expect a gaff, because we all know it’s coming sooner or later. He’s a great shot stopper..sometimes, but that’s about it-unreliable and above all consistently inconsistent..especially with Daws back in the frame-keystone cops springs to mind

      • TD says:

Gomes would be first out the door – great shot stopper but has all the backbone of an amoeba. Can’t kick a ball straight, hugely flustered under the slightest pressure and his head looks to have gone completely. Not a hope he’ll get games for us this season.

      • Catcher says:

dont be daft Gomes is a liability

      • Hartley says:

        Gomes = liability…. :winke:

      • Gary B says:

I would like Gomes to get another go under a proper manager. 10 times better than that useless clown the gooners have in goal, who all the pundits tell me is so good, bit like Wilshere…who? (bit like Livermore with less experience).

  • TD says:

It wouldn’t surprise me if Saha was working on his fitness with Spurs – don’t lots of out of contract players work with old clubs ?.

I maintain a new keeper is absolutely vital – any regular Spurs watcher will tell you that Friedel is a solid ‘no nonsense’ keeper who ALWAYS opts to kick long rather than take any sort of risk…..which will result in lost possession dozens of times each game given the list of attacking options you’ve chosen.

  • davspurs'dealer says:

Harry your vision is bloody seductive. All those goal scorers, all good passers, spinning round and inter-changing with little passes. BUT – I still have this nagging fear that maybe two or three don’t step up or things don’t work out immediately and the meeja and the sporters start calling for AvB’s head.

That’s why if I was him I’d try to get Adebayor + 1 other very good striker. Ade can bring those skilfull little Gremlins you mention into the game because he wins a lot in the air and chases everything.

In recent times I’ve seen a Spurs that score F’all goals from Midfield and relied on PSB and Berbatoss. Then I’ve seen the reverse with the human crane not getting any goals, defoe out of form and Pav just ‘unfancied.’

Imagine us with Siggy (favourably compared with lampard in terms of scoring) and Hudds and VDV in the side – if fit – and Bale/Gio/Lennon(the original version who was unplayable) with two or three great striking options!

Basically, goals from midfield AND the strikers. Would be worth a lot of points to us in the league. I have the same feeling about coulibaly(?) He has always looked razor sharp.
COYS – unleash hell on these financially doped clubs!

    • Harry Hotspur says:

I really think Ade would be the key to the rest of the front line ‘clicking’.

      • Habib says:

Cant we just lie to Modric and play him in Europa and tell him it’s the Champion’s League? Think we’d get to the semis before he figures it out.

        • UnkleKev says:

Isn’t this the reason why we’re playing in all-white this year? Just blindfold him, spin him round a few times and make sure he ends up at WHL. The way we’ll be playing this year he’ll never know the difference.

      • spurskip says:

shite, ady is useless, keep away.money mad aswell fek him

    • essexian76 says:

How can you tell whether VDV’s fit or not? Surely they don’t rely on sprint times!

  • essexian76 says:

Had a couple of tunes in my head that sum our goalkeepers….

Brad-‘Stuck in the middle with you’
    Gomes-‘Should I stay or should I go’

  • jfdit says:

HH you need to lay off the happy pills mate ;-) , if saha was there he’s should of been playing for the legends team not our 1st team, he’s past it and injury prone.

I can’t believe anyone can seriously contend our current midfield will make up for not having a top class front man, in the centre they all looked second rate yesterday with the exception of ***** who looked liked a pub player being allowed to play because it was fund raiser. Vertogen was our most creative player yesterday and he was at centre half.

on the goalie situation, I like gomes but he’s wasn’t even at the game yesterday so he’s either injured or getting ready to ship out.

Cudicini’s second half display worries me more, he looked a nervous wreck and made 3/4 unforced errors, he made almunia look half decent.

We’re 12 days away from season start, selling our best midfielder without a replacement lined up, have VDV, Defoe & Kane as our strike force but don’t panic because an injury prone 34 year old everton reject will solve our problems.

I’m starting to think Levy getting rid of redknapp was more down to having a yes man in charge, I hope I’m wrong and AVB is the next cloughie but we need to give him a chance starting with opening the damn chequebook

    • Habib says:

He opened the cheque book when he could in July. Not counting on Ch League money means he now has to sell Modric before he can spend more. It’s really that simple. That 45M pound training centre didnt build itself you know!

      • jfdit says:

so selling modrat will fund our strikeforce requirements? Joke – we’ve sold Pav & Crouch for £20 million in the past year and it’s been pretty obvious that King would need replacing.

we’ve only qualified for the CL once so I can’t see us banking on that revenue stream anytime soon (or ever again with the current owner’s business plan IMO)

By the way they did another share issue to pay for the training ground, a club of our size should be ready for the new season from the start, we are clearly not ready or able to compete at the level the club’s owners expect the manager’s to succeed at.

        • Habib says:

If you look at the Pav and Crouch replacements we’ve already spent a lot of it on Sigg and Jan. The books are being balanced partly by showing assets dont exist i.e. Bentley’s sell on value. If you look at Levy’s spending patterns this fits it.

Sell Modric and use the money. And it’s a lotta money. Enough for our needs if we dont get shafted by Porto which is a distinct possibility.

      • LLL says:

What happened to that Arab investment? What about the one where Joe Lewis was dipping into his pocket?

Fack that, what about the 35m we were punting around in january 2011 for any one of Rossi, Aguero, Falcao etc etc?

        • jfdit says:

I deal in top end property, spurs remind me of the punters who come in and say they’re in the market but never do the deal, majority of the time it’s the husband just pretending he wants to buy a big house to keep the high maintenance wife happy in the short term, we ‘the supporters’ are the HMW’s

all hat no knickers is the best description I can think of
