Kevin Bond on Talksport just now has revealed to Alan Brazil Breakfast Show that Gareth Bale hasn’t travelled to Italy.

Jonathan Woodgate has – and he is is one of a yet unnamed group of ‘one or two others’ that Bondy said had made the trip but would be watched and a decision made at the eleventh  hour.

Bond said that Bale’s back was not responding. They had tried a few different things, thought all was well but then once he trained it flared up again.

Dawson and Bassong are on board and Bondy added that Billy Bob Gallas has traveled ‘with an ankle’ which just goes to prove you really never know where you are with the French.

I would prefer it if Billy had travelled with both ankles – he might need them. I seriously hope he is fit – the thought of Bassong/Dawson worries me against this opposition. Dawson has seemed a bit error prone this season. I’d be tempted to play Woody from the start if he is fit.

My main concern is that they have all been briefed that if you botch a tackle in the 18 yard box you generally concede a penalty

Is this the same ankle which developed a dislike for green boots after 15mins in the game v Sunderland???

    It cost us a score!!!!

Time for Dawson to stand up and prove himself no time for silly errors Gallas along side him.. We need to win the battle in midfield see the game out and finish them off at the lane,no time to worry about Bale!!! Coys we can do it!!

Dont see how Gallas cost us a score – if he played on with the wrong studs and slipped he would be at fault, or if he had feigned injury to allow the physio to run on with a new pair of boots he would probably have been booked.

What should have happened is that either 1) seeing Gallas go off an experienced player (Daws who frequently wears the captains armband) should have feigned injury or told someone else to feign injury to buy him some time or 2) an experienced player (Daws) should have organised Sandro or JJ to step into Gallas’ position as cover.

Dawson is wholehearted but lacks leadership and nous, hence why Redknapp was looking at Neville and Parker.

I think if Daws had gone off to change boots, Gallas or Woodgate would not have left us so exposed.

Gallas disappeared from the park cos his boots were giving him discomfort. He’d already changed them in the warm-up. He gets paid £50k p/wk to kick a ball.

I don’t ever want to see anyone from my team (Gomes take note) feign injury.

Gallas didn’t help the cause, and Gyan took the chance well.

Woodgate has left us exposed for the past 15 months. :winke:

Gomes wasn’t feigning injury, his feelings were hurt. He needs to be treated on the pitch with an IV of Midol.

  • Whispers doing the rounds that Bale’s season is up…. ‘Orrible thought for a monday morning. Thank god krankie did not go in the window!

VdV is fit according to SSN…..so that was a ‘don’t fancy an international friendly’ type injury then!

Crouch is a doubt. Which is not the worse news I have had in a while. Jenas suspended.

    Is Sandro eligible yet?
