I’m so confused!

Manchester City, Manchester United and the 3rd placed team in the Premier League will enter the Champions League in the group stage* next season.

  • The 5th placed team in the Premier League will enter the Europa League in the play-off round next season.
  •  Liverpool will enter the Europa League in the 3rd qualifying round next season.

  • The 4th placed team in the Premier League will enter the Champions League in the play-off round next season.

  • Chelsea will enter the Champions’ League in the group stage next season.
  • The 4th placed team in the Premier League will take Chelsea’s FA Cup European qualifying spot and will enter the Europa League next season.

However it’s not yet clear whether they will take the same spot in UEFA’s Access List and start in the Group Stage or whether this honour will pass to the domestic Cup winner of another country and whether the 4th placed team have to start in the play-off round instead. UEFA will confirm this were this scenario to happen.

  • The 3rd placed team in the Premier League will enter the Champions League in the group stage* next season.

* It is not yet fully established whether 3rd place will secure a group stage seeding or have to play a qualifying round, should Chelsea win the Champions League.

If we don’t qualify for the champs league hopefully it will focus the mind of daniel levy and he’ll show Mr Redknapp the door. If we do qualify then i hope it will focus the mind of daniel levy and he’ll show Mr Redknapp the door.

I think the point that needs to be remembered is that expectations are all relative. If you had asked spurs fans at the beginning of the season what reflected a good season, to a man everyone would say top four finish and champions league qualification. However, if you ask the same set of fans the same question in January when we were sat in third actually in touch with the Manchesters, a 10+ point gap to fourth and having been playing some of the best football seen in the league ever. The response would less than likely be the same.
The teams’ performances post the Newcastle game have been on the whole woeful and until he found out he wasn’t getting the England gig Harry didn’t give a toss. Yes he has done great for us, no one is questioning that, the point is he appears to have hit his glass ceiling of his talent. He is a crisis manager, and I’d like to think we are no longer in a crisis, but this is Spurs!!!

No this is the real sensible comment. It is all about the timing of expectations. 4th in August was fine but even allowing for some kind of cyclical form, 4th from where we were at the turn of the year is a massive under achievement and a worry for next season.

However whatever Redknapp’s considerable failings, I still think that Chairman Levy is far from blameless. We needed proper investment in January not two geriatrics on a final day trip to London. It only needed one of those draws from the countless away games we dominated to have been won and we would have been third.

Or even a point from one of the narrow losses to norwich, Qpr, everton or man city would have been enough

if we don’t get CL do we have to enter Europa?
would rather focus on league and f.a cup tbh

      • Tel says:

        We tried that this year!

People who say we wanted 4th spot and that’s what we got ‘so why are you moaning?’ and all that, the point is we wanted CL next season. We have not yet qualified. And I hate to admit it but I think Chelsea will win on Saturday
