Aaron Lennon, Tottenham Hotspur

When your name is started being batted about by a couple of token publications about a nonsensical move abroad, it’s usually a sure sign that you’re enjoying a half-decent season and in regards to Aaron Lennon, that simply couldn’t be more true.

In recent days, both the renowned powerhouses of journalistic truth in Football Italia and Portuguese daily A Bola, have reported that tomorrow night’s visitors to the Lane, Inter Milan, are about to make an £8million move for our right winger.

Now regardless of the fact £8million would probably only buy you a shaved eyebrow and a pair of those bizarrely flailing wrists, you can’t imagine the man who was once rumoured to be homesick after moving from Leeds down to London would be particularly keen on a drive back from Lake Como. Although given he’s now older, wiser and infinitely better at kicking a ball around, you never know.

We shouldn’t even really give this story the time of day and considering he’s a regular first teamer who’s played an integral part within a side set for a top-four finish – not to mention the fact his contract runs till 2016 – a figure like £8million suggests that maybe the gentlemen who wrote this story have been looking at the wrong Lennon.

Given the fact he’s not ginger and he’s certainly not about to be exhumed, you’re better off hedging your bets that the men from the San Siro are simply dabbling in a hideously derisory bit of bargaining on this one. There is however, nothing wrong with window-shopping and tomorrow night gives them the perfect chance to see what they’re not going to get first hand.
