43-year-old Tottenham keeper, Brad Friedel, is hanging up the gloves after Spurs play their final game of the season.

The club announced Friedel’s retirement from football earlier today.

The veteran goal keeper has enjoyed a very long and successful career that has spanned 23 years and 650 appearances.

Along with playing for the United States international team, Friedel lined up between the posts at Liverpool, Blackburn, and Aston Villa before coming to White Hart Lane in 2011.

Since becoming a Spur, Friedel has had to sit behind Tottenham’s preferred keeper, Hugo Lloris.

The 43-year-old is at peace with his decision saying,

“I’m incredibly proud of what I’ve achieved in my career. When I first started the journey I never imagined it would be this long, playing 23 seasons in total and representing some incredible clubs.”

Friedel will head back to the United States following the campaign and will work for Fox Sports as an analyst, pundit, and co-commentator.
