Tottenham and Arsenal Circle as Napoli Set Huge Price for Scott McTominay

Scott McTominay’s rise in Italy has sparked significant interest from the Premier League, with multiple clubs reportedly exploring the possibility of bringing the midfielder back to England. However, Napoli are determined to keep hold of the reigning Serie A MVP and have set an enormous valuation to ward off any January or summer approaches.

McTominay has become one of Napoli’s standout figures since his €30 million move from Manchester United last summer. The Scotland international enjoyed a transformative first season in Serie A, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists as Napoli secured their second league title in three years. His performances earned him the league’s prestigious MVP award, solidifying his reputation as one of Europe’s most complete midfielders.

The 2025–26 campaign has continued in similar fashion. McTominay has already added four goals in 14 appearances and remains a key figure under Napoli’s current setup. His form has also translated to the international stage; earlier this week, he made headlines for a spectacular bicycle-kick finish that helped Scotland move closer to securing automatic qualification for the 2026 World Cup.

The midfielder’s consistency, physical presence and eye for goal have reportedly caught the attention of several Premier League clubs. According to recent reports, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton are among the sides monitoring his situation closely. There has also been suggestion that Manchester United, who sanctioned his departure just over a year ago, could be considering a move to bring him back to Old Trafford.

Despite this growing interest from England, Napoli’s stance is firm. The club are not willing to discuss any deal for McTominay unless a bid exceeds €80 million, a figure they believe reflects both his current importance and the difficulty of replacing a midfielder of his attributes. With his influence continuing to grow, Napoli have no incentive to sell and consider him a core part of their long-term project.

McTominay’s development in Italy has been met with widespread praise. He has adapted seamlessly to the tactical demands of Serie A, becoming a reliable goal threat from midfield while maintaining strong defensive discipline. His versatility has also been crucial, allowing him to operate effectively in both box-to-box and holding roles depending on the team’s needs.

For Premier League clubs seeking midfield reinforcements, his profile is an attractive one: experienced, physical, technically improved and now proven in two of Europe’s top leagues. However, Napoli’s valuation reflects both market realities and McTominay’s growing stature in the squad.

At 28, he is entering his peak years, and Napoli believe his best seasons are still ahead. Unless a club is willing to meet the Italian side’s asking price, a mid-season transfer appears highly unlikely.

As interest continues to rise, attention will now turn to whether any Premier League side is prepared to test Napoli’s resolve with a significant offer. For now, McTominay remains firmly embedded in Naples—where he has rapidly become one of their most important players and a symbol of the club’s recent success.
