Manchester United are plotting a summer move to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha, according to Football Insider.

The 25-year-old has attracted serious attention from Old Trafford scouts following his impressive performances for both club and country this summer.

Nmecha came through Manchester City’s youth system but was unable to break into Pep Guardiola’s starting line-up at the Etihad Stadium.

He departed as a free agent to join VfL Wolfsburg in 2021 before earning a transfer to Borussia Dortmund a couple of years later.

After beginning life at BVB as a rotational option, Nmecha established himself as a key starter during last campaign’s action.

He made 42 appearances across all competitions last season, contributing five goals and three assists for the German club.

His strong club form earned him a call-up to Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany squad for the World Cup this summer.

Nmecha has helped Germany secure a place in the knockout stage, with his country winning their opening two matches against Curaçao and the Ivory Coast, with the midfielder netting once in the process.

Dortmund, however, are under no pressure to sell and have placed a £100m asking price on the midfielder, whose contract runs until 2030.

BVB view Nmecha as a key figure in their long-term plans and typically play hardball when it comes to selling their most prized assets.

Standing at 6ft 3in, Nmecha is described as a technically gifted player who is comfortable operating in both box-to-box and defensive midfield roles.

His physical profile, which includes pace, aerial ability, strength, and close-control dribbling, makes him an attractive proposition for Premier League football.

At 25 years old, Nmecha is considered to be at the prime stage of his career, adding further appeal to any club considering a move.

Whether United are willing to meet Dortmund’s hefty valuation remains to be seen, but the Red Devils’ scouts have clearly been watching closely.
