Spanish journalist Miguel Serrano has reported that Manchester United are interested in signing Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga this summer transfer window.
United have already reached a verbal agreement with Atalanta to sign midfielder Ederson, but the club remains active in the market for further midfield reinforcements.
West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes has been identified as the primary midfield target, but United are reluctant to meet the Hammers’ £80 million valuation for the Portuguese midfielder.
Serrano has revealed that United are now also pursuing Camavinga as an alternative option, with Real Madrid open to selling the Frenchman this summer.
Madrid have reportedly told Camavinga to seek a new challenge away from the Bernabeu, as the club targets a new midfielder under manager Jose Mourinho.
The 23-year-old does not wish to leave and plans to speak with Mourinho directly during pre-season before considering his options further.
Serrano adds that Camavinga would prefer a move to a Big Six Premier League club over Bayern Munich or Paris Saint-Germain, with United appearing most interested.
Real Madrid are expected to demand £52 million for the French midfielder, though United may attempt to negotiate a discount on that reported asking price.
Camavinga brings vast European experience and big-game pedigree to the table, having graduated through Rennes before establishing himself at the Bernabeu.
He can operate as both a defensive and central midfielder, offering excellent ball-playing attributes, a tireless work rate, and strong pressing qualities throughout a match.
Liverpool and Arsenal are also monitoring Camavinga’s situation, meaning United could face serious Premier League competition if they delay their pursuit any longer.
United plan to continue talks with West Ham over the Fernandes valuation, but if no breakthrough emerges, attention is likely to shift decisively toward landing Camavinga.
