Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly opened talks to sign FC Koln forward Said El Mala, according to a report from TEAMtalk.
The 19-year-old winger has attracted significant attention across European football after a breakout season in the Bundesliga.
El Mala scored 13 goals and registered four assists during the campaign, marking himself as one of the most exciting young forwards in Germany.
Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United are also understood to be interested in the teenager, while Brentford previously failed to agree on personal terms with the player.
Tottenham monitored El Mala closely throughout last season and have now made contact with the player’s representatives after being impressed by his displays.
The forward is represented by his parents, who are reportedly insisting that any interested club also sign Said’s elder brother Malek El Mala, who also plays for FC Koln.
Most clubs have been reluctant to agree to that condition, but Tottenham are reportedly willing to compromise on the matter to get the deal done.
FC Koln hold a strong negotiating position with El Mala’s contract running until 2030, and the German club are demanding around £34m for his signature.
The 6ft 2in winger operates primarily on the left flank but is comfortable on either side and can also cover in a creative midfield role if required.
El Mala is known for his pace, technical quality, and ability to dribble in tight spaces, with his signature move being cutting inside from the wing to unleash powerful strikes at goal.
Tottenham have been busy reshaping their squad this summer following a disappointing season, having already secured the signings of Andrew Robertson and Marcos Senesi.
The North London club are also reportedly on the verge of signing Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton and Hove Albion as they continue their rebuild.
Further reinforcements in midfield are also being targeted, with Tottenham understood to be keen on bringing Sandro Tonali in from Newcastle United.
