Arsenal have set their sights on RB Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa as their leading alternative if a move for Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior falls through this summer.
According to Caught Offside, Nusa has risen to the top of Arsenal’s contingency shortlist as the club pursue a marquee signing on the left flank.
Leipzig have placed a £51 million valuation on the Norwegian winger, a figure that has also attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur in recent months.
Arsenal already moved to address their left-wing options by signing Christos Tzolis, who arrives carrying a significant reputation after a dominant spell at Club Brugge.
The Greek international produced a remarkable 51 goal contributions in his final season with Brugge, registering 22 goals and 29 assists across all competitions.
Despite that acquisition, Arsenal remain eager to secure an elite-level wide player, with Vinicius firmly at the top of their list of preferred targets.
The Brazilian has not closed the door on a contract extension with Madrid, meaning Arsenal could yet miss out even if they pursue the deal aggressively.
Nusa, however, had a relatively modest club season with Leipzig, contributing just five goals and four assists across 35 appearances in the Bundesliga.
The 23-year-old did show glimpses of his quality at international level, scoring a sublime long-range goal against the Ivory Coast during the World Cup for Norway.
His inconsistency in front of goal remains a concern, though, and questions linger over whether he would justify a £51 million fee in the Premier League.
Tottenham have also been linked with Nusa, but reports suggest Spurs are now pivoting their focus toward Manchester City winger Savinho as a more viable option.
That shift in Tottenham’s thinking may suggest the north London clubs share reservations about whether Nusa’s output truly warrants his price tag at this stage of his career.
Tzolis himself faces a significant step up in quality, having excelled in Belgian football but now needing to prove himself in a considerably more demanding Premier League environment.
The 24-year-old will be eager to make a strong impression at Arsenal, having previously experienced an unsuccessful spell with Norwich City earlier in his career.
