Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign prolific Scottish centre-forward Robbie Ure from Swedish club Sirius, according to a report from CaughtOffside.
The 22-year-old has been one of the most exciting young strikers in European football this summer, earning the label of a ‘European goal sensation’ after his outstanding form in Sweden.
Ure began his career at Rangers, progressing through the youth academy and making an immediate impression with his natural goalscoring instincts and physical presence.
During his time in the Rangers academy, he recorded seven goal contributions in ten UEFA Youth League games and 25 goal involvements in 37 appearances for the reserve side.
Former Rangers coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst was sufficiently impressed to hand Ure his first-team debut as a starter in the 3-1 League Cup win over Queen of the South on 30 August 2022.
Despite scoring on his debut, Ure made only three appearances for Rangers before joining Belgian club Anderlecht in 2023, where he netted 12 goals and provided four assists.
With just one senior appearance for Anderlecht’s first team, the tall forward made the move to Sirius in Sweden, where his career has taken off in remarkable fashion.
In the current campaign, the 6ft 2in striker has amassed 23 goal contributions in total, including an extraordinary 17 goals in just 14 Swedish Allsvenskan league games.
That form has attracted attention from clubs including Arsenal, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, AC Milan, Napoli, Monaco, Lille, Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, and Besiktas, according to CaughtOffside.
However, Chelsea and Manchester City are reported to be showing the strongest interest among the clubs tracking the young Scotsman’s situation.
Chelsea, managed by Xabi Alonso, have already held direct talks with Ure over a potential move to Stamford Bridge this summer, giving them a significant advantage in the race.
The Blues have operated a clear youth-driven recruitment strategy since the Clearlake takeover of the club in 2023, building one of the most sophisticated scouting networks in world football.
This summer alone, Chelsea have signed Harrison Bettoni from Wigan and Scottish centre-back Alfie Osborne from Hearts, while a deal in principle is in place with FC Dallas for 15-year-old Benji Flowers.
Although Ure is 22, he fits comfortably within Chelsea’s recruitment model, and their pathway through Strasbourg could give them a crucial edge over rival clubs competing for his signature.
