Leeds United are pressing ahead with transfer business this summer as they look to build on securing Premier League survival last season.

Manager Daniel Farke has spoken openly about the need for added investment from the club’s hierarchy to help transform the squad and push for greater heights.

Harry Wilson was the first signing of the summer window, arriving on a free transfer after rejecting a new contract at fellow top-flight side Fulham.

Tarik Muharemovic became the club’s latest addition on Friday, with the Bosnian international joining for £34m to become their second most expensive signing in history.

Leeds have also been among a cluster of clubs chasing former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Brandt, a free agent since July 1st after rejecting a new deal at Signal Iduna Park.

Farke’s side have held face-to-face talks with Brandt’s agents in recent days, though it remains unclear whether Leeds hold any advantage over rival clubs in that pursuit.

The 30-year-old German international has made 61 Champions League appearances since 2019, including helping Dortmund reach the final during the 2023/24 campaign.

Before leaving Dortmund, Brandt registered 11 combined goals and assists across 29 Bundesliga appearances last season, 12 of which came from the substitutes’ bench.

However, Leeds are simultaneously pursuing Lyon attacker Pavel Sulc, with Foot Mercato reporting that club-to-club talks have already taken place between the two clubs.

Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest are also said to be interested in the 25-year-old Czech international, who is believed to be available for around £20m this summer.

It is Leeds who have reportedly made the most progress in those negotiations, giving them an early advantage in what could become a competitive race for his signature.

Sulc ended the 2025/26 campaign with 14 goals and seven assists for Lyon, a combined tally that surpasses what Brandt managed at Dortmund across the same period.

The Lyon forward created 1.3 chances per 90 in Ligue 1 last season, a figure that ranks him in the top 15% of all players across Europe’s top five leagues.

Sulc also completed 47% of his attempted dribbles during the campaign, again bettering Brandt in that department and underlining his broader attacking qualities.

Defensively, the Czech international made more tackles per 90 than Brandt and regained possession more frequently in the final third, offering Farke a complete pressing option.

Farke has long prioritised players who work hard without the ball, and Sulc’s pressing statistics and off-ball contributions make him an ideal fit for the Leeds system.

Securing a player of his calibre for approximately £20m would represent excellent value for a club looking to establish themselves more firmly in the Premier League.

While Brandt remains the name generating most excitement among supporters, the Leeds hierarchy may ultimately view Sulc as the more practical and productive option heading into 2026/27.
