Liverpool have held talks over a move for Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior, according to Spanish journalist Ramón Álvarez de Mon.
The Reds are pushing to revamp their frontline this summer following the departure of Mohamed Salah from Anfield.
Liverpool have already moved to sign Victor Muñoz from Osasuna but remain eager to add a high-profile attacking name to their squad.
The club initially pursued RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, but Paris Saint-Germain have since emerged as the frontrunners to land the midfielder.
Liverpool have also been linked with PSG forward Bradley Barcola as they continue to scour the market for attacking reinforcements.
Álvarez de Mon, reporting via his YouTube channel, claims that Real Madrid want to retain Vinicius and the Brazilian himself wants to remain at the club.
However, both parties have been unable to agree on a new contract, with his existing deal set to expire at the end of next season.
The 26-year-old is reportedly seeking a salary comparable to that of Kylian Mbappe, making negotiations increasingly complex for the Spanish giants.
As a result, Vinicius’ representatives have begun exploring alternative destinations in the event that a new deal with Real Madrid cannot be reached.
Liverpool have been offered the opportunity to sign the winger, and the club has expressed genuine interest in pursuing a deal.
PSG and Bayern Munich are also credited with interest, though both clubs are believed to prefer securing him on a free transfer next summer.
Álvarez de Mon states it is increasingly unlikely that Real Madrid will successfully tie Vinicius to a long-term contract during this transfer window.
The Brazilian winger, valued at around £120m by Transfermarkt, recorded 32 goal contributions across all competitions last season despite Madrid failing to win any major trophy.
Vinicius is predominantly a left-winger but has also shown he can operate effectively as a second striker, using his pace, dribbling, and clinical finishing to devastating effect.
